Away for a little while
Apr. 18th, 2003 02:12 amI'm going out of town for the weekend to celebrate my birthday (Sat) with my best friends. I'm starting to pack now... and I'm looking for last year's tax stuff... I'm supposed to have it, but it's not in my important documents crate... which means I'm a little scared that I don't have it for whatever reason. I throw nothing away... it's just a matter of finding, at this point. *crossing fingers*
I'm in the middle of my 'Snape takes care of Sirius' fic which Gayle suggested. It's going well... I'm certainly having fun with the two of them. :-)
Anyway, if you miss me, read the last two parts of 'Under House Arrest' I posted a week ago but no one responded to... they couldn't have been that dreadful... could they? :-) *sniffles* I'll be back Sunday. Have a good weekend! :-)

Date: 2003-04-18 07:10 am (UTC)Sorry I haven't responded with feedback for your fic sooner. You posted them at a time when I was somewhat incapacitated after major dental work. But I dug through my email and re-read those chapters of "House Arrest" initially read in a vicodin haze.
Very interesting turn of events. I love the way you make Remus the definitive alpha male. Yes, he's mild and easygoing, but he's also assertive and downright aggressive when he needs to be. Too many fanfiction authors gloss over that aspect of him... I don't know how many authors might have Remus actually using a paralyzing spell against his mate if it were the only way to subdue him.
And poor Peter. Maybe it's because I know the evil that he's going to turn to putting the suggestion in my mind, but I can imagine his incident with Sirius as one of the seeds to start him down that path. He doesn't say anything about forgiving Sirius for what happened, does he? It's Remus who imagines that Peter forgives him... Peter, on the other hand, merely says he knows that Sirius didn't mean it... "But it still bloody hurt." In my mind, that caveat is such an ominous statement of things to come. Rather than Remus' conclusion that Peter has forgiven Sirius, it seems to me that Peter has done anything /but/ that.
Excellent characterization! And such cute sneezes from Sirius... They way you describe them, they're just the type that make me weak at the knees. ^_^ Thanks so much for sharing these two chapters. I've been waiting for them, and look forward to seeing how it all turns out in the end. Sirius and his cold won't hide that easily at this point in the story, I'd imagine!
And your Sirius/Snape one... I love a Sirius/Snape fic that's written well. Those two have such potential for excruciatingly lovely dialogue... Though I'm too much of a Remus/Sirius shipper at heart to want to give our little Padfoot to the romantic, um, wiles of Snape. ;) Can't wait to read it!

Thanks!!!!
Date: 2003-04-21 11:04 am (UTC)So it means a lot that you did give me feedback now! *G* Thanks!!! *hugs*
I'm glad you liked my Remus... he goes back and forth between weak and strong a lot in this fic, but even when he's weak, he's still very much in control of the others. I've written a nonfetish fic where he uses the spell to have his way with Sirius sex-wise, so I guess I didn't think twice about him using it for an actual reason this time :-)
As for Peter, yes, that's just what I was getting at *hands over a plateful of cookies* Although Peter does give a nod of forgiveness, no, he doesn't actually say that he's forgiven the man, not to his face and not even to Remus. He feels better, though. Protected and cared for and all that, but maybe not 100% better all around. I like to think of Peter making a promise to Voldemort on the night of Harry's birth. Which, in the timeline of this story, is coming up in about two months. So I imagine a few events which really make him feel uncomfortable in the group- so much so that when someone else suggests protecting Peter, Peter agrees.
And I'm SO glad you like Sirius' sneezes *G* I do, too. Yummy little Padfoot :-)
The Sirius & Snape fic is coming along nicely... I'm going to try and post the first part in a day or two. It's got a lot of sexual tension between Snape and Sirius, and possibly a little romance at the end, but I don't think there will be any actual sex. It's very much a fact in the fic that Sirius and Remus are an item. Attempting to think of a proper title now :-)
