This week's
thefridayfive:
Then:
1) What was the first album/CD/Cassette you ever bought?
My first "adult" tape was Annie Lennox's Diva album (with 'Walking on Broken Glass'), but I asked for and got that for Christmas, so it wasn't something I physically bought. I can't actually remember the first album I actually bought with my own money... but it was some time after that, I think. I'm sure my parents bought all my Sesame Street and Disney records.
2) What was your first fave song?
That would be 'I Think We're Alone Now' by Tiffany. My second favorite was 'Hold On' by Wilson Phillips
3) Which song gives you that "funny nostalgic feeling" everytime you hear it?
OMG So many! I was singing along to 'Angel is a Centerfold' this morning in the car and having a marvous time going back in time. Same with when I heard 'Kharma Chamelian' in the car last night. Pretty much any 80's song takes me back... but so do many old kid TV show theme songs. But top of my list for "funny nostalgic feelings" is probably 'The Electric Slide'. It is the ONLY thing I will dance to when other people are around to see me and brings back SO many memories :-)
4) Name the first concert you ever went to.
The Barenaked Ladies' Stunt tour concert. Went with a friend from high school who also went to my college. His roommate drove us 3 hours south into another state and we stayed with his sister at her college. It was a great weekend and a breathtakingly wonderful concert. Definitely one of my favorite memories ever.
5) What do you consider the worst song of all time?
Anything my sister likes.
No, seriously, um, there are SO many on my list. I freaking HATE stupid songs that just repeat the same words over and over again to a techno beat. Like that 'All Around the World' song. But my least favorite song is possibly 'Ghetto Superstar'. Of course, 'The Thong Song' by Sisqo is right up there, too. I like songs that MEAN something lyric-wise. Therefore, I was amazed at the recent 50 worst songs ever list circulating in the media- I love a lot of the songs others hate, apparently!
Now:
1) Name your fave song at the moment.
'Affirmation' by Savage Garden
2) What is the most recent album/CD/Cassette you purchased?
I honestly don't know the last one I purchased(with my own money). But the last ones I got were the RENT Motion Picture Soundtrack and The Chonicles of Narnia: Music from the BBC Television Series, which I got for Christmas
3) Which song will you never get sick of hearing?
OMG there are so many! I don't really get tired of songs the way most people do. I actually have a tape or two I made when I was younger which is just one song (like the theme song from Free Willy, or Enya's Sail Away) repeated over and over and over again so I wouldn't have to rewind the tape again and again. Honestly, there are thousands of answers to this question. I can't possibly start naming.
4) What is your current fave music video?
Urh... I don't watch music videos. So I don't have one.
5) If you could be a famous music artist, what type of music would you produce?
Folk music. Of course, then I probably wouldn't end up being famous... but I love folk. I love songs with actual lyrics and meanings and poetry to song *happy sigh*
EDIT: Now that I think about it... the first concert I ever went to was probably an Arlo Guthrie concert my parents tookme to at Wolf Trap when I was seven. I fell asleep near the end because it went really long... but I remember loving it.
