Sorry for taking a while with it. I finished this earlier today... I'm not completely pleased with it, but I think it's okay. I hope you like it. I know you said no (to quote you) "bare, sweaty elven skin" (in reference to no smut) but, as you'll see when you read this, that's sort of what inspired this fic *G* I tried to include all your suggestions as well- not difficult as the images came very easily to my mind while writing this. Thanks so much for such lovely feedback and friendship over the last year. I hope for nothing but the best for you this year! *huge hugs*

Oh tg...damn. Just...wow! I can't find good enough adjectives to express how much joy reading that fic brought me. I think I just might have a new favorite Legolas fic! It was all so wonderful, with the perfect amount of sniffly, suffering elf and worrying, caring, and snuggling friends that it left me with an amazing feeling of warmth and contentedness, not unlike how Legolas and Gimli felt at the end of the fic.
You have me regretting what I said about the 'bare, sweaty elven skin'...even the mention of that had my lust rising! I should have requested a bath, like the twins suggested, or at least some sponging off to reduce the fever. *G* But seriously, I wouldn't change a thing. Particularly the cold symptoms-you really outdid yourself in your descriptions of the shivering, sneezing, stuffy talk, fever, etc. It's like Jerry Maguire...'you had me at hello', or in this case, the first sneeze. *G*
Oh, and the children were adorable (and no worries about the timeline because I was completely unable to find a date for Eldarion's birth) and Sam is such a sweet father and Gimli is such an amazing, lovable dwarf, and the perfect, detailed fictional holiday you created and I'm going to start rambling again in my excitement!
Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being so generous with your time and talents, not just now but year-round. Just reading this fic...it's like my dearest daydreams coming to life, and thinking about you making it possible almost brings me to tears. I couldn't ask for a better gift. *SUPER MASSIVE HUGS*

During my childhood, sponge baths were, like, my ultimate idea of romance and love. Gods I was a weird kid. But, hey, then I grew up and realized others were just as weird :-)
Once I'm done with the 7 fics I have on my plate with due dates/timetables, I plan on seriously considering writing a nice bathfic with Legolas/Elladan/Elrohir :-) I wouldn't have wanted it in this particular story, though, as it would have meant changing the setting and I kind of like how the whole thing takes place just in the one room.

*giggle* I have to be totally honest- writing a fic for you is like an excuse to be as descriptive as I like with that sort of thing. With most sneezefics I sometimes worry that if I spend too much time going into such details, people will fall asleep and kick me to get the story to keep going. But this time I didn't mind taking my time and really making it as vivid and drawn-out as I wanted. So I'm really glad you enjoyed that aspect with all the symptoms.
Oh, and the children were adorable
So glad I didn't screw canon up too much! I ended up looking in a few sources and "officially" he doesn't have one. Elanor might sound a tad too old for her age in this story... I had 3 or 4 in mind and I think she's only 2 years older than wee Frodo... but I could think up a hundred excuses to justify it if I had to, so I'm glad the children worked out.

heehee! I'm so glad you're excited! Heck, I'm excited that you're excited! That's so great to hear, er, read. And I'm glad you liked the holiday. Part New Year's, part Winter Solstice... it made sense to me. I'm afraid I had to agree with the twins in that the celebration was a little too quiet for my liking... but with the young ones and a sick Legolas, I could understand why. I was thinking of going into much more detail about those Lorien and Rivendell celebrations but thought the juxtiposition might take away from the story- and would certainly interrupt the flow.

I'm an IDIOT with the ******'s. Thank you *hits head against wall* I meant to look those up to be sure of spellings and wasn't able to get online all weekend. And then I totally forgot. So thanks!
As for Eldarion... I can't find any reliable source in canon with that date (neither the Appendix nor the encyclopedia I have). Most sources (like the Arda encyclopedia) say there is no definitive date for his birth.

Date: 2006-01-16 08:23 am (UTC)I've done more research on Eldarion. I still can't find any confirmed date of birth for Eldarion, though the Histories of Middle-earth say that he died in FA 220. I saw one chronology that listed his year of birth as FA 20 (for reference, FA 21 was when Sam, Rosie, and Elanor spent a year in Gondor), but in their references they say that the year was just a guess, based on the assumption that he lived to be 200 years old. Given his ancestry, I'd say you have plenty of leeway to work with. So don't worry, it's still plausible...and anyway, it's technically against canon that elves can get sick in the first place, so a little more canon-bending doesn't matter all that much. It certainly didn't hurt my enjoyment. :)
