Random things
Jan. 18th, 2006 03:18 pmMy mind REALLY isn't on work today. I hate that feeling. Bleh. So I'm going to take a break and come back into it feeling fresh and lively, I hope. A bunch of things I've been meaning to mention:
Last chance for anyone with a Top-Five topic to offer me for the meme a few days ago! I'm posting my answers tonight. Doesn't have to be aything brilliant... just a topic :-) I'd love more than two.
I really hate this new journal layout. I can't copy & paste properly for some reason which makes replying difficult. And the comment section is bleh! I'm going to have to redo it again, because I really don't like it at all. I really wish I knew how to code LJ layouts, with all the layers and things. But I soooo haven't the time right now to learn how to do it. I'd really like a section on the side that lists all the tags I use, as well as a section for links and a calendar... but I don't know how to do all that and can't find an explanation or pre-made layout to learn from. *pout*
Annual Challenge- Is anybody (apart from wonderful, fantastic, incredible Hermione) doing anything for the challenge???? Everyone seemed so excited to have it at this time of the year and then complete silence! *cries*
I'm planning on submitting 3 fics. Don't know when I'll be able to write them, what with everything going on right now, but that's my hope and plan at a minimum. I have one started (just a page or two, and it's going to be short), one sort-of-started (a page worth of notes and an idea I've been wanting to write for at least 2 years now), and one that's been going through my head all day today that I'd really like to start sooner rather than later.
Giftfics- I'm going to TRY to get GWT's giftfic done by Valentine's Day, for certain, as promised. It's started and bits are written. I'm jumping about in it but I'm very happy with its progress as it has an actual plot sort of worthy of the HH series. I want it to feel as close to the real thing as possible. GWT- I sent you an e-mail a few days ago with a question re: the fic. Drop me a line when you can!
Maria- I started yours a few days ago and I'm pretty happy with it. I'm pushing myself a little too hard, what with the move and all, so I keep falling asleep at the computer in the middle of writing, but as soon as I can find time to really sit down and flesh it out, I'm sure it will go really quickly. I've got nearly the whole thing in my head right now. It's cute and amusing and hopefully you'll like it too :-)
Legolas- I haven't started yours yet, but I promise I've been thinking about it. I know you mentioned in your request that you thought it should be set pre-raft but I rather like banged-up post-raft Sawyer. So I'm thinking I might have better success writing it then. Would you have a problem with that?
My plan for these is to finish GWT's, try to finish up my annual challenge fics before the challenge due date, and then finish the other two giftfics. That's the plan, at least.
The move is going well. My dresser has been turned into a plastic bin on the floor and my storage unit is 75% empty (but the current contents of my closet will be going in there, I think, at least for a little while). But it's going well. Slow & steady. I'm enjoying seeing some of my stuff again- like my bed and my couch.

Date: 2006-01-18 10:40 pm (UTC)I dunno. I do hope there will be lots of last-minute entries. There is almost a full month to go, after all. So here's hoping inspiration strikes! I know my muses are working overtime :-)
I'm incredibly happy you were able to write a few and help out, too. That's great. I agree with you about the unique experience that it is to write to a challenge for a change. It's always a great sense of accomplishment when I finish a challenge fic :-) Thanks again for your submissions!!!

Date: 2006-01-18 10:37 pm (UTC)I'm thrilled you're going to write something for it! Squeee! I know you mentioned you had some things in mind, so I'm thrilled you're moving ahead with them. YAY! So we'll have at least three authors then! And hopefully some adorable puppies as well (so far none of my challenge fics are in that fandom, so I was feeling a little worried this might be a HP-less challenge- what a terrible thought! heehee)

Date: 2006-01-19 08:13 am (UTC)I was wondering about your layout, too. I was trying to copy something on it as well and it doesn't work very well. Like your header, though. Nice and personal. ;-)

Date: 2006-01-19 09:29 pm (UTC)Lost Fic Request
Date: 2006-01-21 12:06 am (UTC)Absoultey no problem with a post raft fic, especially since now Sawyer is up and about again, it might make sense if he is pushing himself too hard instead of concentrating on recovering. I think he even got shot AGAIN this week (well, grazed, but still!!) MMMM Sawyer......yummy!
