Five Reasons Percy & Oliver should be together:
1. Their ages- First and foremost is the fact that I like slashing characters who are the same age (or roughly the same age) and who are in the same house. I don't like good/evil pairings so I'd never want either of them with Flint, for example. And I love the idea of two friends/roommates getting to know each other for seven years at school and then finding out they're so right for each other afterwards. That works so well for Percy & Oliver, I think.
2. Obsessions- They're both quite driven to be the very best at what the do (whether it's working one's way up through the Ministry or becoming a Quidditch champion), and they're both willing to sacrifice things like common sense and spare time to get to that point. I think that would make it very easy for them to relate to each other and makes for a great basis for understanding in a relationship.
3. Differences- I also think their many differences compliment each other, which makes for more interesting dynamics, especially when it comes to little things like domestic living. There's potential for lots of arguments and for angst… but also being able to pick up each other's slack and have one's talents compliment the other's weaknesses.
4. Appearances- I just really love their look. Maybe not quite so much with their movie-verse selves, but other artist's interpretations of Perce and Olly *cough*Marta*cough* make them look just fabulous together. The skinny dork with glasses and the muscular Quidditch keeper… so sexy together.
5. Sort of my OTP- Apart from their time at Hogwarts when I enjoy shipping Olly with the twins or Cedric or Harry or practically anyone, I can't picture Oliver and Percy with anyone else. This comes from the fact that the first Percy (and first Oliver) fanfic I ever read paired them so well with so much lovely h/c that I couldn't help but fall in love. And when I have something in my head that I see as right, I can't see it differently. So now I just *feel* that they belong together.

Five celebrities/famous people you would most like to see sneeze:
1. Ewan McGregor (Duhhhh!)
2. Peter Wingfield (cuz I soooo dig his nose)
3. Ioan Gruffudd (I'm currently incredibly enamored)
4. Orlando Bloom (esp. as in garb of certain characters)
5. Olaf Kolzig (without the goalie mask)
Goodness, choosing was difficult! I very nearly put Alan Rickman or Heath Ledger or Sean Patrick Flannery or James Marsters or Hal Sparks as number 5… it's sort of a toss up among them, actually… I'm so very, very indecisive. I should have just said Ewan for all five and been done with it. LOL! Here's to wishful thinking!

Top Five favorite comfort foods:
1. Hot chocolate
2. Campbell's Tomato Soup
3. Ice cream with chocolate chips/chunks in it (mint chocolate chip, cherry & chocolate, cookies & cream, etc.)
4. Peanut butter fudge (my great grandmother's recipe)
5. Frozen yogurt cups (we're talking buying blended yogurt from the dairy case, freezing it in the freezer, and then chipping away at it with a spoon for an hour)
I tend to watch movies to comfort myself more than eat anything, honestly. But these are still foods I'll feel better as soon as I eat. *happy sigh*

Date: 2006-01-19 08:05 am (UTC)Anyway, I'll answer my question for you since there was only really one difference.
1. Ages...with you on the getting to know eachother and then hooking up later, almost realizing that after so much time together, they don't want it any other way.
2. Obsessions....precisely...they are both nuts about what they do and each can both understand and not understand the other's obsession.
3. Differences...standard geek and jock thing but also see more personality differences but through their differences, they push eachother to become more rounded...it'll make a bit more sense when I get the final reason.
4. Appearance...I'm both bookverse, movieverse, and artist's renderings (also marta). The only complaint I have with the movie is no glasses...wtf...Chris Rankin wears them...helloo. And occasionally I see Percy as taller than Oliver...kinda long and gangly a la Clay Aiken.
5. They need eachother more than they realize. I think that Percy brings out a more serious side in Oliver, and Oliver brings out a more playful, confident side in Percy. My sis and I were talking about Percy having low self-esteem as he is *very* achievement oriented and measures his worth by how others see him, therefore, needing reinforcement and see Oliver helping with that. Whereas, Oliver is very hard on himself, but doesn't need the esternal reinforcement, so I see them as needing eachother to become more rounded people.
and 6....They complement each other, strong where the other is weak, etc. I see them as a set
Don't know how much sense this makes as it's been a horrible day here, but thought I'd try. And I'm half-asleep and too worn out to fix my spelling, so I'm sorry for that.
