The Friday Five
Jan. 20th, 2006 09:56 pm1. What is your preferred trusted news source?
CNN, I suppose. I read CNN news in my mailbox every morning (e-mail). I watch ABC World News tonight several times a week (when I'm home in time for it) but CNN is on all the time in my house so I end up hearing news there more than anything else. We also get The Washington Post and I love it muchly.
2. What is a news source that you will never trust?
Fox News (BLEH!!!) or The Washington Times. Or any of the entertainment rag papers with stories about the batboy and duckgirl's bigfoot alien baby that looks like Ton Cruise...
3. What is the news topic during the last calendar year that you feel got the worst coverage?
Oohh good question. Depends how you define "worst".
If it's defined as "badly covered" I'd say probably the Runaway Bride story. I feel sorry for the chica and I cannot believe it got so much of the sort of coverage it got post-exposure.
If it's defined as "not covered at all and should have been" I'd say the world summit held in the UK in July.
4. What news item do you feel got too much coverage in the last calendar year?
Michael Jackson trial.
5. If you had complete control of your favored news source(s) (answer to question 1), what would you do with it that is not already being done?
Taking out the snazzy graphics, sounds, and titles of news stories. *facepalm* WHY are those needed? Like a three second graphic of a tree blowing in a wind and "KILLER KATRINA!" in swaying block letters is really adding to my ability to understand the news story? Just get on with it!
