Updates...
Feb. 13th, 2006 01:48 pmThe official annual challenge fic count is 18, I believe. But I expect at least one more this afternoon (possibly two) so that would mean hitting the 20-mark, which isn't too shabby at all, I daresay. It's certainly not as good a turnout as the last two annual challenges, but it's not terrible, either.
I'm really excited about reading the fics and getting feedback on mine. I have a really unhealthy obsession with my Strokes series boys and I wrote two short fics for the challenge with Coyote and Ducky (token Asian- unless you count Rich's squeeze- and, more importantly, token closeted gayboy).
I'm going to take my car in Thursday for an estimate on the damage from the accident. Had a HUGE thing on Sat afterwards, involving at least 10 phone calls to the other driver, the driver's husband, the insurance company, etc. In a perfect world, I would be found to be not at fault and not have to pay anything... but we'll see. *crosses fingers* Thank goodness I get paid in 2 days, just in case.
And I'm pet-sitting this upcoming weekend. My boss stiffed me last time when it came to petsitting, so I might have to have an embarrassing conversation about rates.
And we did end up getting snow on Sat evening through Sun morning. It's all beautiful out! I LOVE it. Except that the neighbor's kids decided to go sledding in our backyard without asking us first, and that's RIGHT outside my bedroom. So it was a lovely (not the sarcasm) thing to find Sunday morning, having kids several feet away while I'm sitting inside in my pajamas! They actually threw a snowball right at the glass door to frighten away the cats sitting there looking outside. NOT COOL! And then, this morning, I woke up for work after a really hard night trying to sleep (I'm still not comfy in the new house yet, and I got to bed at 4am and the cats were a NIGHTMARE) and called my boss to find out I could sleep in another half an hour to an hour if I wanted to. Problem was, the kids were back, laughing and screaming loudly, in our backyard again (not theirs, mind, there's a fence surrounding theirs so the property line is clear and they were standing under our deck and bumping against the door to my room and their dog was barking and GAH! Thanks a lot, kids! I'm all about snow days, don't get me wrong, but not when I'm trying to sleep and do it in your own backyard, kids! GRRRRR!!! And it's not like they didn't see me there, either, both times.
*deep sigh*
Anyhoo, I'm going to finish coding fics when I get home, wait for the last few to roll in, and then code those. Then I'll be on and off waiting to hear for A regarding when she's ready to release the stories. I like the idea of releasing them sometime Tuesday as a Valentine's Day present for us all. :-)
And I made some good progress yesterday on GWT's holiday giftfic. I'm hoping to have that done in a day or two at the most. It's going very smoothly and I have little bits written already so right now I'm just playing a game of "fill in the action" :-)
So all is well... apart from my being tired. I watched a few new-to-me episodes of Queer as Folk last night. GoddamBrian... and Mikey being all neahneah- GRRR! I adore the show, and respect the characters and storylines (unlike many fans), but GRRR! Why can't they all just get along and make up and be good friends again? Don't they know the series is almost over? ;-)
