Lost entry from last night!!!
Feb. 18th, 2006 12:14 pmI'm having major internet problems today. Might be where I'm sitting, I dunno. The LAN here at work has its weird moments. Takes about 5 minutes for a webpage to load, if it will do so at all!
I posted February's Joe Boys story over on my writing exercise journal
mymightypen. Feel free to stop by and read it :-) A very small version of the month's picture is included for reference.
Just watched two more new-to-me eps of QaF. *sigh* I must admit I SCREAMED out loud several times. And did the whole dance in seat punch the air bit, too.
I've been having fun with free HBO, Starz, and Cinimax On Demand movies. Watched Shall We Dance and my favorite episode of From the Earth to the Moon (the geology episode) last night and today I got through Season 2 of Entourage, A Lot Like Love, and The Grudge. The Grude. Oh GODS was THAT a mistake!!! I started watching it when I got back from my adventure to the body shop and it was still light out. By the time I was nearly doe it was dark out and I'd forgotten to turn lights on all over the house. So Here I was in a completely empty HUGE house in the dark in the middle of nowhere. I could scream my lungs out and no one would hear me. And, as I'm starting to get really terrified, the dogs all start randomly barking. They only bark like that when looking outside and seeing a stranger around the house or a strange car driving up to the house. But the shades were drawn in the room so that couldn't be it. SCARED ME TO DEATH!!! OMG such a mistake. I told myself not to watch it, then I told myself I'd be fine because I was prepared and would have the dogs around and the sun and OMG what a mistake. SCARED TO DEATH! I made the same mistake when watching Blair Witch 2- alone in the middle of the night in my dorm room. But this was far worse. DUMB TG! Lucky, when I paused the movie and went to look around to be sure no one was there to kill me and stop the dogs from barking and turn on all the lights, the phone rang. I was almost scared to pick it up in case I heard whey they hear in the movie when they answer the phone, but it turned out to be my mother. That really helped my mood a lot and then I watched the remainder without problem.
I also saw the USA & Sweden women's hockey game today. OMG what a great game, but such a sad ending! They looked so devistated! But, wow, what a game! The first ever Olympic women's hockey game to be decided by shootout.
I woke up this morning to the construction crew arriving (and the dogs barking madly to tell me so). I opened the garage for them (still wearing PJs) and then went back to sleep in an instant. The dogs had me up several times in the middle of the night- I gave one emergency meds at 5am because he was crying and clearly in pain. So I went back to sleep despite really loud sounds of saws and pounding and siding being pried off and put onto the house. I slept like a log. I can sleep through anything I need to, it's a gift. And I can wake up at any sound I want to- like a light knocking on the door amidst the saws and drills or a cat chewing on a plastic bag even though the TV is on a few feet away.
I went to get an estimate for my car repairs. I'm so screwed money-wise. My hope is still that they other insurance company will pay... but I'm not really all that hopeful at this point. I had a very hard time finding the place, though. I gave myself an hour to stop at the bank and find the place- which was 20 minutes away according to MapQuest. MapQuest told me to take BonnieMill Ln to Hooes Rd and then Hooes to Beverly and so on. Well, I first made the mistake of turning onto Hooes Rd directly... after about 7 minutes there I decided I was going in the wrong direction and should try following the directions better. So I got back on the parkway and turned onto BonnieMill and then onto a different Hooes Rd. But that was a dead end. At one point it probably DID connect to Beverly... and I went 10 minutes out of my way down Beverly Place Rd just in case, to find that was a dead end, too. Finally I gave up on MapQuest and just found the road I knew the Autobody shop was on. But I didn't know WHERE on the road or on what side or in what direction. It's a 3 lane 50mph road and in rush hour on a Friday... and with tons of 'No U-Turn' signs and no traffic lights. I passed the place three times, kept turning into the wrong places, forcing myself to make lefthand turns, etc. It was HELL. But, even so, I was only about 7 minutes late to my appointment. Argh! I hate being late. And now I'll know where it is next time but I swear I SUCK at finding places. If I wasn't broke I'd buy one of those GPS TomTom or StreetPilot things in an instant, I tell you!
Anyway, it's been a fun day. Got to get work done tomorrow.
