Back from Jury Duty
Apr. 12th, 2006 01:18 pmI wasn't picked for duty :-(
I sat around reading (finished a book!) for a few hours this morning. Then I got picked in the first group to go upstairs. There were about 30 of us who went up there. I didn't get to sit in the Jury box (12 chairs) but I did get to sit on the front row right behind the Prosecution and I got to answer questions along with the others in the box. The question & answer period took a long time but, in the end, I wasn't picked to sit on the Jury for the trial. *pout* By then, I REALLY wanted to! So I went down and got scanned back in to go back into the pool. And about 20 minutes later they dismissed us all and I'm exempt from serving again for the next 3 years. *pout* Sad. It would have been fascinating. The trial was regarding a guy a year older than I am allegedly soliciting a minor at the high school he worked at- which is within walking distance from my new house. But *sigh* they didn't want me. I feel so rejected! I think it was my age (the Prosecution wanted parents, I'm sure, and the Defense probably didn't want a young woman on the jury because I might identify with the victim- probably didn't want someone with such a computer background, also, considering how the solicitation was conducted... but I still feel badly for not being selected)
I called Boss and he didn't want me in for the afternoon. So I have the rest of the day to finish off my taxes and nap :-) Yay!
