Day two of the book sale... I intended not to buy much and it turns out I didn't. Tomorrow when I go I might buy a lot... there's a lot I'd LOVE to buy if it's available.

But today:

  • The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (I just saw Wilde for the first time the other day and I'm in a mood, naturally)
  • The Vision by Deen Koontz (for my boss and his son)
  • The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by various (different authors like Steven King and Dorothy Hughes write Sherlock Holmes stories)
  • CD: Rufus Wainwright (because OMG I love Rufus- the sexy sexy boyo- and I don't own any of his CD's)
  • Slapshots: The best and Worst of 100 Years of Hockey by Stephen Cole (small book but yay)
  • Audiobook: Hornblower and the Hotspur by C.S. Forester (how the hell did I miss this yesterday? SQUEEEEEEE!)

The above purchases came to $4.50 in total. Not bad. Not bad at all.
I was looking especially for a few books... including Hornblower books. And couldn't find any though I saw the HH Audiobook at the last minute and nearly squeed out loud!!! Oohhhhhh!!! I cannot WAIT!!! Sooooooooooo excited!

I love Rufus Wainwright! I've got all his CDs and I probably listen to at least one of his albums once a week.

I love it when he sings in French. There's a great song on the Moulin Rouge soundtrack by him. La Complainte de la Butte I think. :)

I have to say I've always preferred the Jeff Buckley version of Hallelujah, maybe because I came across it first? Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk is also a favourite of mine, as are Gay Messiah (it's just too much fun to sing along to) and Old Whore's Diet (because it's got Anthony from Anthony and the Johnsons) on.

I also love Martha Wainwright, Rufus's sister. Her album is great and there's a lovely duet with Rufus on it called, "Bring Back My Heart". She also provides backing vocals on his album "Want One".

Have you by any chance seen The Aviator yet? It has a trifecta of Wainwrights in it, Rufus and Martha as well as their father, Loudon. They each perform as lounge singers in different decades throughout the movie. Kind of a neat idea I though. :-)
