What I was going to continue on and say is that I think I have a new theory to justify having our kind of fun with elves in fic. I think it's only reasonable to postulate that Elrond and his family of half-elves could be a conduit for passing disease from mortals to elves. I like to imagine that his exposure could cause the viruses/bacteria to react to elven DNA and create disease variations that Elves are then susceptible to. Once created, they could then spread through all the various Elven communities and take residence in the population, just as colds do in human populations. Viola! Logical justification for the way we treat poor Legolas! *G*
