Good Day today
Jul. 31st, 2006 06:26 pmI had a really good day today, especially for a Monday. Today at work, I kept being thrown things to do. I LOVE being kept busy!! When I have a million things to do is when I'm at the top of my game. Plus I have this archival project to do now whenever I finish the important work. But I was soooo on top of things today and everyone kept complimenting how fast I got things online. At the end of the day, my boss sent an e-mail to the board of the organization and mentioned all the work I'd been doing (especially the two years of magazine archives I digitized) and said I was "doing a smashing job in expediting the publication of updates and these new pages" *EG* You can imagine my delight :-)
And people got packages I sent out Friday, so yay.
When I came home, I got the mail and had my order of BookCrossing supplies (last time it took a month to get to me, this time a week). So yay!
And I also had, in the mail, my health insurance membership card! Whoohoo! Just in time for the dentist visit on Wednesday! I've never had an insurance card before. I feel so spiffy and covered. Now I can go to the doctor any time I need to (as opposed to only when I could afford it). Whee!
PLUS my boss from Work #1 is out of town through the end of the week so I could come straight home from Work #4 and can jump on the computer and write! Squeee! Good day indeed. I really need to work on the 'Respect' Strokes fic because I want to read it out loud for comments at Wednesday's writer's meeting. But I'm sooo close in finishing x_posed_again's thank you fic... I might do that one first *G*
Oh! AND I get paid tonight at midnight and it should be deposited into my bank account this time, for the first time. Yay for money!
Now all I have to do is pay off my gigantic student loan :-)

help!

Date: 2006-08-01 02:17 am (UTC)-Go to the manage tab, and the Customize section beneath that.
-Under the basics tab on that page there should be a link in the middle of the page that reads 'your linked list'. Click on that
-You should then enter in the links you want, in the order you want (you can use the numbers to reorder later if you want)
To display the links:
-Under the Custom Options tab there should be a horizontal list of selections. Click the one that reads 'Sidebar'
-You should see the option "Show the link list in the sidebar?" and select Yes
Hopefully it's similar or the same for free members! Hope this makes sense

Date: 2006-08-01 02:30 am (UTC)So glad work is going so well. I know what you mean about being busy. I miss more stuff at work when things are too slow. There's a certain level of being busy that makes me most productive, then of course there are weekends that are pull out your hair busy too...
How awesome for your booss to be sending along such great praise, and you getting to see it too. Yay for you!!!
Did you order those cute panda labels? I'm probably going to order some later this week. I'm deciding what else I want too.
Congrats on the health insurance too. That is huge. Hopefully you won't be needing it very often.
I'm looking forward to the new Styrokes fic, who is in respect???? Can you tell me, or do I have to wait?
Have a great week.

Date: 2006-08-01 02:46 am (UTC)At work, I like tons of little or medium-sized tasks. Things I can finish and feel productive about, but not HUGE projects that take weeks or months to finish. I like constantly having something to do and knowing there's something else to work on afterwards.
Hmm. Sounds like my fic-writing preferences as of late, too.
But I agree about being *too* busy!

There are a couple things I really should go to the doctor about but have been putting off because of money concerns... and because I don't want them to tell me I have cancer. I'm all about denial sometimes when it comes to my health.

Actually, when I got it done, I was going to send it and a segment of 'Moving On' to you and ask for your opinion. But it doesn't want to get done at the moment.
It's a story about Julia (one of the club's limo drivers). Unfortunately, it's supposed to be about her but the PoV changes halfway through and the story becomes more about Sweetie and Jamie. There's an 'Afterward' that I'd intended to be in the original story that's heavily about them, but I took out because it's supposed to be about Julia. And it's soooo not working this way. *bangs head against wall* I'm feeling way too tired to write tonight, but maybe I'll get a second wind. Ugh. I've gotta get a section done before the meeting Wednesday. I'm interested in what people who don't know the series or characters think about it. But I'm also interested in opinions from people like you who do know the series. In other stories I've hinted a little bit at Jamie's past relationship problem9s) and in Respect more explanation comes out- but it's not fully explained. It comes up again a little in 'Okay'. Anyway... the more I work on it, the less I like the story. LOL
But, yeah, to answer your question, Respect is supposed to be about Julia.

Date: 2006-08-01 03:27 am (UTC)If you could use it, I'd be happy to offer any input you'd like. I have read all of the Strokes fics you've posted. I've enjoyed them - it's interesting to see the characters develop and interact in each segment.
Also - glad to hear your new job is going so well!

Date: 2006-08-01 03:30 am (UTC)I want to finish it before I ask for help on it (so I've no idea how long that will take) but when the time comes I'd love your input. Thanks so much for the offer, and for letting me know you're enjoying the series. That makes me such a happy Mommy :-)

Date: 2006-08-01 03:28 am (UTC)I didn't order the panda labels- those came out a day or two after I placed my order- Doh! I got a few more packs of sticky notes and one of those slim red stamps.
But the day after I ordered, I realized I forgot to use a gift certificate someone gave me to the store. So that's a good excuse to place another order and get maybe a pack or two of panda labels. Pandas are SUCH a big deal around here thanks to our new baby cub at the National Zoo. And for the September Animal Challenge (I'm keeping some dog books from the almost-over Dog Days Challenge to use for the Animal Challenge) I was thinking how much fun it would be to go to the zoo and leave a dozen books behind near the animal's habitats (Wolf book by the Wolf enclosure, etc.) So the Panda labels would be PERFECT for that.

Date: 2006-08-01 03:37 am (UTC)I'm so glad you introduced me to BC, I'm having a blast and reading a lot more than I had been.
I need to go to the post office tomorrow too, to mail out a box and a book.

Date: 2006-08-01 03:43 am (UTC)Good for you for organizing a few bookrings! I'm impressed!!! :-)
I've been trying to do a multi-fandom bookbox but I want to read them all first and that slows me down LOL! If you'd like, I'll make sure to PM you if and when I get it up and running.
