To SF Readers & Writers...

Lately, (though I only just noticed it, sorry about that, folks) many different characters including quotation marks, tabs, apostrophies, and accented letters have been showing up badly (usually as question marks) in stories on various sites I run.

I've done a quick fix to the stories at the following locations:
tarotgal's Realm, the Sneezefic Archive, the Challenge webpages (132, annual challenge, weekly hatching, etc.)
And I've done spot checks to confirm that many documents now look correct. However, I have not checked them all and I'm fairly certain I've missed some problems.

So I'm asking all writers to check their stories. And I'm asking all readers to read carefully. If you spot any problems of any type with any of the stories or webpages in general (i.e. story listings, author pages, etc.) PLEASE let me know the following: Website you found the problem on, Title of story or title of page, place where the error occurs (copy & paste the parts of the sentence). E-mail all this information to tarotgal@livejournal.com

I'd really appreciate help with this. There are literally thousands of stories and I don't have the time to go through and read every single one. So please let me know if you spot any problems anywhere. Thanks!

I hereby volunteer to go over the LOTR and POTC sections of your realm with a fine-toothed comb! Oh, such chore it will be...rereading all those yummy stories. *giggles*

Seriously though, just from a glance at the LOTR section, there appears to be a problem with all mentions of Lorien, Lothlorien, and Eowyn, probably because of the additional punctuation marks above certain letters that I don't know how to recreate here. And there's random question marks before some paragraphs, and in place of some apostrophes. I'll give you a complete list in the next day or so.

Shoot! I thought I fixed all Eowyns! Yes, most letters with accent marks (like I mentioned in the post) are now troublesome. I fixed a few Loriens but apparently not all. I thought I got Eowyn though. Doh! I'll go through the LotR ones again in a second and do another quick fix.

And then if there's anything more that you find, e-mail me with the specifics, sound good?

Sounds good. (And oops, you caught me skimming but not really reading every line you posted...sorry!)

Awww, that's so nice of you to volunteer to do. If you feel bored and really want to go through other sections, that would be fantastic. But hopefully time and enough readers will take of the majority of remaining problems.

It's okay. I typically restate myself... and ramble... and write in lengthy paragraphs... and restate myself... so tis all right :-) I fixed a few more Eowyns and as many Loriens/Lothloriens as I could find in my own fics and challenge fics. But I bet there are more hiding in my stories and in stories on the archive.

If you want to go through stories other than the ones you kindly volunteered for already, I'd appreciate looking through archive stories more than the ones on my site. There are just *so* many of those and I don't know them as well as my own fics. So that would be most helpful for me.
