Gift Fic Requests- 2006

Yep, it's time! I've only got a few hundred words left to write for NaNoWriMo and what's a better day to start taking requests than Thanksgiving?

Here's the way it's going to work this year... which is similar to last year and the year before: I made a list of about ten people I'm absolutely writing something for. They're ones who have been good friends, who leave me comments/fb, and who gave me birthday/holiday presents, etc. They get priority, naturally, but beyond that I'll do my very best to fill all requests that I get. If that number gets way out of hand I'll let you know that they'll either be very late or I'll cut it off requests. (I think I had 25 last year, and as you recal, I finished 3 of them six months late)

I am, again, shooting for 3-5 pages for each story, but it really depends on my muses and time constraints in that respect. I promise to do my very best. And I'll keep you all aprised of my progress.

Reply to this post with the answers to the following questions if you want a gift fic. The more information you give, the easier it will be for me to write. Here's what I need you to give me:
1. Your username (This should be the easy part)
2. Which winter holiday(s) you celebrate (so I know when to try and have it done. If you don't specify one, I'll plan to post it on New Year's)
3. Fandom (ONLY original characters or fandoms I'm familiar with, please. And I'd prefer not to write Real Person fics)
4. Pairing(s) if any (I'm pretty much open to ANY pairings here, even ones I don't ship- het, slash, and femslash are all acceptable though you know I prefer writing slash)
5. Character(s) you want to see sneezing if any and if you have a preference (just so there's no confusion when I go to write the fic. The fic doesn't have to involve sneezing, but obviously it can if you'd like)
6. Rating or range of ratings (and/or specific stopping points. ex: kissing but no sex... or sex but nothing graphic... etc.)
7. Plot, situations, kinks, elements, sneezing/no sneezing, colds/allergies/other, etc. (My list of squicks is getting shorter and shorter by the day, so there's VERY little I won't agree to write at this point. Feel free to specify as much as you like here because the more you include, the easier it is for me to write!)

Additional things: Only one request per person (so make it a good one). If I honestly don't think I can write your request for some reason, I reserve the right to tell you this and ask you to pick another. And, again, the more details you specify, the easier it is for me to write, so think about your request before you submit it. (I'm not saying you have to go into great detail, but if you want something specific, feel free to ask for it!) Fics don't have to take place during holidays, but can if that's what you'd like.

PS- I'm working on a list of things I'd like. I don't require any gift in exchange for anything I write/give. This is my personal way of giving back and making people on my flist happy, because you all deserve to be happy! But some people asked last year about what I'd like as a gift as well, so I'll put together a short post like I did last year with things I'd like. But there's absolutely no strings attached when requesting a giftfic from me. Even if you're a lurker, everyone should have a happy holiday. So don't hesitate to ask... just know it might take me a little longer to write.

I'm totally going to request a giftfic, because yay giftfics. But I have a really quick question first. I was going to put down, like, seven choices and let you pick whcch would be easiest. But you seem to frown upon that. So would you rather get the choice of what would be easiest or me just tell you? Because if I'm going to ask for something, I may as well do it the way you want.

Okay, here's my answer. If you really, really don't care which of the ideas you want me to do, give them all to me. I am HORRIBLY indecisive and it's easy for me to be just handed something to work with. But sometimes the things I'm handed are difficult to write so it's nice to have a few choices so I can send my muses in each direction and see which starts writing itself in my head. So, honestly, if you want to give me a bunch of ideas and have me feel them out and pick one, that's just fine with me. But maybe just your top 4-5 choices? If there's one you want more than the others, though, just give me that one. I want it to be the thing you want (or as close as I can get to that) not the thing you settle for.

So after all that rambling, my simple answer is, choices are fine and sometimes help me a lot so long as you really, really don't care which one I pick in the end. But if you have a strong preference for one, give me that one.

OMG, I was SO not ready to see this go up so soon...yes, even with all that time to think about it, but I'll give you what I have so far.

3. I briefly considered POTC, as I don't think the Will-drenched-in-water-multiple-times potential was fully explored after POTC2 this summer, but in the end, I couldn't pass up a chance to have more elf/dwarf. Lord of the Rings, please!

5. Beautiful, built-up elf sneezes, pretty pretty please!
6. Bare sweaty elven skin is perfectly acceptable this year! (I had to say it! *G*). Seriously though, I'll take anything from simple smarm and caring all the way through to sexual gratification, but I highly doubt the Legolas in the plot I'm requesting will be up to anything all that energetic. ;-)
7. I'm seriously on a Hurt/Comfort kick right now. I want Legolas to suffer! *cackles evilly* So I want a nasty head cold piled on top of injury. I'd like my staples of fever, chills, yummy build-ups, and some stuffy talk...have fun, enjoy yourself with the symptoms! I want lots of overprotective fussing and concern from Gimli and some medical care from Aragorn. And I want Legolas to eventually, finally admit at the end of it all, that for once, he might actually not be fine. :)

Ok, hope that's specific enough! If not, let me know and I can try and work on it more. Thanks so much for doing this again!

Awww, thank you!! I'm finishing up one more story right now... I want to use a song and I don't know what song it is and can't figure it out. It's been driving me CRAZY. But otherwise I'm a paragraph away from getting it finished. Then I'll put all the fics in one document and get it verified officially. I'm very happy about my accomplishment. It's not exactly a novel... but it's stuff that really needed to be written :-)

As for your request... I can definitely work with that.

I think I would have probably been shocked and disappointed had you not gone for the elf & dwarf! :-)

As for the plot... I wanted to ask... the plot/situation you suggest sounds like it could easily fit the story I very roughly had planned out for a follow-up to the snow elf fic... um... I don't remember the title, but the one based on the L.Laire picture of Legolas & Aragorn out in the snow, the story where I stranded them out there and Legolas broke his ankle or whatnot. I've always wanted to write a sequel and always intended to... but to be honest it probably won't happen at the rate I'm going. LOL But if that works for you and you don't mind my using that as a basis for the story I think I'd love to run with that and try to include the elements you mention above. (you actually suggested it last year and my "absolutely positively" certainty doesn't seem to have pushed me into writing the story yet).

Okay, I'm maybe not doing so well on the communication front tonight... damn song I can't figure out is eating my brain. THE POINT IS: would you mind me taking you up on last year's alternative suggestion and working with that and the elements you specified... or do you want me to try to think up something new? Either way's fine with me. I was just reminded of what I had planned for that sequel while reading your post above.

Sometimes I read descriptions and images just pop into my head and this was definitely one of those times. Yeah, this one shall be nooooooo problem for me at all *EG* Sorry Snape! (or, rather, lucky snape for escaping my torture this time)

Oh and the tattoos and piercings don't sound weird at all. I've seen a lot of Gimli fanart where he has tattoos, so I'll have plenty of visual inspiration to work with while writing. Not a problem at all.

Do you have a time period in mind for the fic? I look at your suggestion and my head starts spinning. If you have a time period preference (during school, during book 3, after the war, etc.) that would really help me come up with something. But if you don't have a preference, I'll just stick out a finger and make the spinning stop and use whatever it lands on and hope it works. LOL

I took 9 years of French and have the vocabulary of a first year *facepalm* So I'll definitely keep that in mind. Who knows when I'll have to write Fleur, right? heehee As for medical facts, thanks so much for the offer! I always bug Lady K with random questions and feel terribly guilty about doing so. So it's nice to know I have someone else to ask if I have a random medical question. Thanks!!

Hello, I'm probably what could be defined as one of your lurkers...but it doesn't make me any less of a fan! I adore your stories, have for a long time. You're a truly wonderful writer, and the way you describe sneezy, sniffly boys is magnificent. I love your choice in fandoms, too, because I share so many of them! When you write boys with colds it's practically poetic, and I always enjoy your stories.

Anyways, I thought I would go ahead and ask for one, but if you don't get to it that's absolutely fine because I know you take a lot of requests and it must be difficult to finish them all.

6. Um...nothing too explicit. I prefer fluffy, squishy, cuddly fics to hardcore porn, epspecially when it comes to Wes/Fred. Actually, if it works better for the story, there really doesn't have to be any obvious physical signs of affection; just lots of chemistry. But stories with the smoochies are always good. :)

7. Cold sneezes most definitely! And extra bonus points for awkwardness between Wesley and Fred...maybe they're researching demons together in the Hyperion or something and Wes is bothered by his cold...I don't know. Just so there's a sense of Fred wanting to comfort him and not knowing how...but not being too motherly about it, if that makes any sense whatsoever. Oh, and I'd really like if it were to be set in season three, because I prefer dork!Wes to dark!Wes.

Honestly, my first thought was to write it in season 5, after they finally get together because awwwwww, they need some happy season 5 time. And that's before Wes goes dark again, obviously. But if you'd still prefer season 3, before she goes all Gunn, I can absolutely work with that.

And your idea about the sequel sounds just wonderful to me! I don't know how firm an idea about it you have yet... but maybe they could have some sort of complications that lead to doubts about it? Like Percy starts working longer hours and Oliver goes on lots of road trips with the team so neither is home as much as they'd expected. But maybe a cold brings them back home for an extended period of time and they work things out. But if you already have something else in mind, feel free to ignore this suggestion :-)

You're so sweet to offer, thanks :-) Hmmm. I am absolutely in love with the fic you wrote me last year. I read it over and over again every month or so, in fact. You did such an amazing job with Cedric. If you can think of some other Cedric storyline to play with, that would be fabulous. But I feel like I'm safe with pretty much any HP fic you write because they're all so incredibly good. So if there's something else in the puppy or Marauder variety, maybe, that pops into your head, that's great, too. Maybe something with a holiday theme and snow? It would be interesting to see a role reversal, where Spike is the vulnerable one and Wes the stronger. In terms of the Spander pairing, I'm really open to anything.

Thanks! Maybe next year I'll manage a real novel, instead of just a series of short stories :-) Still, I'm glad I got so much accomplished- every story that needed to be written for the CD/playlist is now finished, which was my main goal for the year. So yay :-)
