Christmas Tree
Dec. 11th, 2006 12:16 amSo I spent yesterday moving boxes around and packing things. I still haven't unpacked completely from the move a year ago. But today we took 10 boxes to my storage unit and got my Christmas tree (used to be the family tree, but I acquired it) and my Christmas boxes out of storage. I put up my Eeyore stocking and Maxwell's stocking (yes, I'm crazy and my cat has his own stocking!). I put up a few decorations around the room and I started to set the tree up tonight. Need to buy another string or two of lights because my one doesn't cut it. And I need to buy a tree skirt and some more ornament hooks.
But I don't know what to do with the top of the tree. I don't want it bare like in the past. But I definitely don't want an angel or a traditional star or anything religious like that. Which leaves me few options. I'd love something with a Celtic flair... but no idea what that would be. I might just have to go with a nice big red bow or something like that.
We moved the exercise equipment in my room to right in front of the door- which makes it harder to use and harder to get out in case of emergency (though with the locking system, it would probably be easier just to throw a brick at the door and climb through). But I put the tree over in one corner and there's this sunken light above it in the ceiling (there must have been a desk or something underneath it). When I turn the light on, it's like light shining right down on the tree from above which is awww, so nice and convenient. Totally not planned, but really nice just the same.
Anyway... I don't know what to put at the top. It's such a statement! LOL Man, if only they made, like, a giant glowing EƤrendil star tree-topper. Now THAT would be perfect!!!

Date: 2006-12-11 05:56 am (UTC)I'm not decorating this year, as I'll be gone from my apartment the 20th through the 27th anyway. Plus, with my impending move, I need to be sorting things and getting rid of stuff I don't need so I can pack stuff I want to keep, not getting out even more stuff that I'll have to put away again in January. And my apartment complex is a bunch of Scrooges and made me take down my balcony lights less than 2 weeks after christmas, when I wanted to take the tinsel down and leave the greenery and red bows up until Valentines' Day. So this year, they can do without my decorations. so there!
Oh, and I did decorate last year and Eowyn-kitty has her own stocking too! Actually, it's not stocking-shaped, it's fish-shaped and has a felt cat face on the side and the stocking says 'My Best Friend' in embroidered script below the kitty. *G*

Date: 2006-12-12 06:43 am (UTC)I found my answer here: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=1446
The category was Cable Television and the question was "The premiere of this miniseries was held at Normandy's Utah Beach Memorial on June 6, 2001" It wasn't a hard question at all as all the contestants got it correct.
