Not as many as in previous quarters, and none from theaters. But Giftfics and NaNoWriMo zapped a lot of my free time. Still, there are a lot.

Date: 2007-01-01 08:23 pm (UTC)The brilliance was subtle but there. It felt very true, especially since I lived in North Carolina for about 6 years as a child. The song at the beginning and ending of the movie is very catchy, too. Wish I could find a good recording of it online :-) The characters were very interesting to get to know.
And I loved Ben in it! That moment when he's going crazy trying to tape the meercat show for his wife absolutely floored me. To me, that is true love. I want a guy who'll do that for me.
I intend to write up my "favorite movies of the year" list sometime in the next day or two, and I was going to put this on the list. What I liked about it has to do with something a coworker of my father said to me once when he was driving me home from work. It was about how people in different places/classes may seem a lot different. But really it's just the vocabulary and examples that they use that are different. They're really just as smart and just as talented, and certainly the emotions are exactly the same. I understood what he meant but I'd never had a really good example of that until I saw this movie.
It really touched me... and it brought out a lot of emotions. But I most liked how real it was. Thanks for the rec!
