VT Shooting

Okay, so I don't usually name my location, etc. in my posts for a reason. But a few of you already know (and everyone who e-mails me regularly could probably have figured it out) that I went to Virginia Tech for undergrad and grad school. I'm not there now, and all my closest friends there have also graduated.
I'm really worried about some friends and professors who are down there now, after the news this morning of the shootings. I was in and out of Norris all the time and most of my friends & profs are in Computer Science (which overlaps with engineering), thus my worry.
My Virginia Tech e-mail account (the one I usually use) keeps going down, so just a heads-up on that. Everyone is jamming the phone lines and e-mail lines trying to get through to people. I've heard from some but not all. I'm just going to wait and hope and not contribute to the problem right now. I'm just really worried and scared. And I'm incredibly sad this happened at my beloved university.

Date: 2007-04-17 10:57 am (UTC)Given the terrible events of Monday, I felt compelled to respond. Far too often, people in my industry are forced into detailing the madness which transpires in a society which sometimes seems to have lost its way. When I saw images coming from the alma mater of a long-lost friend of mine, the personal significance took on a completely different horror. Please know that I hope that everyone you know/knew is fine, or as good as can be expected given the circumstances. Nothing more I can say will probably be of much consequence, but I did want you to know that this terrible event has brought back memories of a friend, and that my uttermost wish is that she finds the strength to deal with what is unspeakably awful.
From a long-lost friend in Manitoba...
