Maxwell had a problem with his eye Friday night. I think one of the other cats (read: Benji) might have scratched him there. All Friday night and yesterday he couldn't open his left eye for very long. Poor guy. He didn't rub at it or anything, but there was some unusual discharge. I called the vet and they said I didn't need to rush him in on Sat. And today (Sunday) he's a lot better. Keeps his eye open almost all the time today. Guess it just needed some time to heal itself. Whew! I was really worried.
Benji's blood curve was abnormal yesterday. It got down to 67 (40-60 is the dangerously low zone, and it's supposed to be in the 200's). We tested him a ton and adjusted his food and insulin and the numbers went back up to normal. But now Mom wants to do a blood test before every injection. Which means I have to wake up fifteen minutes earlier now in the mornings before work. Crapola. Totally necessary, of course, but I like my sleep.
I don't think I've mentioned this already, but there's a robin roosting right outside my window. She picked a spot under our deck, at the end, which is right outside the glass doors leading outside from my room. She's about 5-6 feet away from the house and I can see her perfectly when I sit here at my desk. She's huge and now has this big path of white underneath her which apparently is typical. The nest is nicely done, and she has the birdfeeder and birdbath on the other side of the yard. She flies up to the beam and looks at her nest, then jumps into it. But before she sits down, she does this cute little wiggle of her tail feathers, then sits down on her eggs. It's fascinating to watch. I look forward to having little baby robins outside my window in a little while!
