What a week!!

Weekend- My parents bought my sister a car. They never bought me a car. To make it up to me, they're going to pay me the same money they spent on her car. Which means, wow, lots of money for me! *is astounded*
Monday- Yard maintenance people come. They bring a huge back-hoe and several truckloads of stones. They pile a HUGE pile of mulch/peat moss right in front of the building (in front of my entrance) on the handicapped parking place. The mess remains until late Wednesday.
Tuesday- I arrive at work and the power has been shut off. The two people at work who knew this would happen forgot to tell us, so we have no power in the morning. Not only that, but all the computer backup battery units are screaming and our server is in crisis mode. I arrive on the scene as one of only 3 people in the building with a key to the server room. I whip out my keychain flashlight, make my way into the dark basement, open the room, save all our data. Then, after ten minutes going around switching off all the battery back-ups, it's another 10 minutes or so until the power comes back on and I have to go back around switching them back on again.
Wednesday- Dress up day! The Dean of the college we're under comes for a visit; it's the first time a dean has actually bothered to visit us, or even driven down our street (even though we're only 30 seconds from campus). We all dress up in business attire and look spiffy for a change. Boss makes me take pictures of everyone. They hate me for it. I hate me for it. Then we do a big group "wedding" picture. I put the pictures up by our bios. The last picture on the website was the staff in 2004. This is a nice change.
Wednesday Also- It's staff appreciation day. Those of us not lunching with the dean go on campus for free pizza. Nummy nummy. I felt appreciated.
Thursday- I arrive at work and the power needs to be shut off. Completely different reason than Tuesday's, but the same chaos ensues. Not to mention that the power needs to stay off for an hour and a half. Wishing we'd known ahead of time so we could have slept in, I close the door to my office, curl up on the floor, and sleep for an hour. Then I write Remusfic for another hour or so. Everyone else mills about or goes outside and talks about having a picnic.
Friday- My boss and the head boss/director are out. I get a bit done in the morning. One computer I thought I'd fixed several weeks ago acts up again, and I have another great call to tech support. One computer that wasn't broken breaks and it takes six of us to figure it out. Then my department goes to Giant for food. We eat out on our newly-relocated picnic table. Long lunch break turns into a LONG lunch break. Another co-worker goes out and comes back with beer. I did a bit of work but most everyone spent the rest of the day outside talking and drinking beer and/or left between 2-3. I went home at 3:30 since backing up the server took some time. I ran errands and came home.
Friday Also- Oh, I bought several sheets of Star Wars stamps! Pretty pretty!! I'm definitely going to frame a sheet or two. They're so pretty! Also also... I think I'm going to get one of those digital cable boxes so I can record things digitally. I'm hoping it'll work on my TV and hoping I'll still be able to videotape. But now that I'm making money... I think I can afford one and will find it useful. Not that I don't love watching episodes online... but some shows I'm waaaaaay behind on or feel like an idiot when I miss an episode and can't get it online.
