Bad muses! No smut for you!
Dec. 27th, 2007 09:42 pmOkay, so I totally meant to spend this week writing giftfics. And my plan has been to post one every day until I can't keep up with that pace or finish (and the first is the most likely possibility). I'll post one in a few minutes, once I format the HTML document properly.
However, I went to start a Marcus Flint/Oliver Wood story last night as a gift and then, 3 pages in, realized two things:
1- It didn't remotely resemble what the request was
and
2- It was going to be a HECK of a lot longer than 5 pages (I'm trying to keep everyone's giftfics at 5 pages, to be fair. Some have gone 5 pages and a few lines, but that's including headers, so I think it's still fair)
So... I wanted to stop writing to finish this fic later, when I don't have any requests on my plate. But the damned thing wouldn't leave me alone. I went to bed at 3:40-ish in the am and the story wouldn't leave my head even as I fell asleep. I woke up, wrote a little, went to Blockbuster, wrote a little, went to a BAD dentist appointment, and wrote more. I just finished it a few minutes ago (minus title) and am pretty happy with it. But now I have to start all over again with the giftfic. But part of that story jumped into my head last night while I was looking up details in Quidditch Through the Ages for reference, so it's no problem. It's just funny. I only ever write the best stuff when I'm supposed to be doing/writing something completely different :-)
Anyway, here's where I stand with giftfics:
Finished- 5
Started- 2
Untouched- 13
Posted- 2
And I'll have another up within the hour.

Date: 2007-12-28 03:41 am (UTC)LOL! Converting people one fangirl at a time... woo hoo! hahaha
There's no telling my muses what to do.
God, isn't that the truth. I have no idea where mine take me sometimes. I will start with one idea and it ends up completely different. It's like I will read back on the story and go "Huh, did I write that?" LOL

Date: 2007-12-28 10:10 pm (UTC)M/O will prevail! HAHA, seriously there are so few people who write them... and write them well. Not saying that I do... gosh knows there are lots of people better than me. That's part of the reason I took to writing them, there were just not that many NEW stories out there. Can't really saw what made me ship them in the first place thou... something about hot quidditch boys probably.
I may have to do one for annual challenge.
*Kicks your muses into high gear and then looks around and whistles innocently* You so should... see, here I go converting again. I am such a lurker when it comes to annual challenge and those groups.. so you know at the very least I would read it lol.

I totally know what you mean. I find myself going off on tangents and what I want to make the story and it is nothing like what the person requested so I have to pull myself back in. I try to keep the good bits that didn't fit in for later use... never know when you might need them!
