Fics & Giftfics

So a story idea for the annual challenge jumped me a few days ago. I told it to go away until I'm done writing giftfics. However, it doesn't seem to want to go and it might be a while before I'm done with gifts. So... I think I'm going to have to work something out. Like giving them equal time or just working on giftfics on weekends when I have loads of time and then knocking out annual fics on weekdays. Hmmm. I really have to write this annual challenge fic, though. I'm kind of scared because it's a new fandom and uncharted waters for me... and I don't want to mess it up. I'm always so worried when I try writing in a new fandom. Does anyone else feel that way? Even when you feel comfy writing & sharing, do you get nervous when you try something totally new? In this case, I worry about people's expectations. It's partly because it's a challenge fic, too. It's not like some fun fic I'm writing just for myself; it's something I know other people will be reading. Ugh. Performance anxiety before the story is even done! LOL And I don't want to say what it is because then people will comment excitedly and OMG I'll get even MORE nervous and the fic will go badly.

But I do have two giftfics more than halfway done, and ideas brewing for others I need to start. I just need TIME to write. Haven't had that today or yesterday. ANd I desperately need sleep. So... yeah. We'll see what happens. But just wanted to let you know my current progress & situation.
