tarotgalWe had our first real snowfall of the year today! About... oh... an inch or two so far. Not much, but huge flakes and enough to make it near impossible to get out of the development where I work. You may recall my explanation last year of ye olde Hill o' Death that is the only way out and difficult to handle in the snow. So once it starts getting bad on the roads, the boss considers letting us go. And then when enough of us complain and he gets all his crucial work done, he lets us go. The roads really were a mess, though. DC drivers are the WORST in the snow, I'm telling you. They drive hugeass SUVs and think they're unstoppable and then cause accidents... or they drive at 1 mile an hour and get stuck in the snow and cause pileups. But I managed to get home in about an hour (normally a 20 minute drive) but I stopped to get milk and cheese and Snickers bars (the three staples- though the candy is for my mother) at the grocery store on the way home.
So I'm off work 2 hours early and can relax. I should be doing taxes... but I fear venturing out in this to get the forms from Staples. And I have to be here to give Butterscotch his medicine at 4pm (half an hour from now) anyway. He had an emergency vet appointment this morning- last night fluid was dripping out of his eye constantly- not good. But it's just irritated, thank gods nothing more serious. So... here I am. All cozy and warm at home during a snow afternoon. Maybe I'll write my traditional snow drabbles... I usually reserve those for full snow days... but I doubt I'm going to get one of those this year and I'd hate to waste the pretty. *shrug* We'll see.
Oh, hey. Get this. This morning I woke up and squinted at the tv and didn't recognize the episode of Angel that was playing. Turns out- I've never seen it! WHOA! How did that happen? Squee! It's like Christmas- a new episode of Angel! It's, um, Cordy and Gunn and the car is stolen I think? I honestly didn't pay attention to the plot because, yeah, I want to see it properly. But the pink motorcycle helmet made me grin bigtime.

But I'm glad you get a partial snow day! There's nothing quite so nice as sitting in a warm and cozy house, with blankets and tea or hot chocolate, watching the world turn white outside. And if it brings on a snow drabble, so much the better! ;-)
