Could use a hug... or a nummy rec
Apr. 4th, 2008 12:38 amOkay, so tonight I:
1. Volunteered at the library for 2.5 hours. I had so much fun. I got to search for missing books. It was like a library treasure hunt!
2. Watched much of the Capitals game. We WON! We might still make the playoffs! We might not... but at least with tonight's win we're not not making the playoffs, and that's a start :-) WHOOHOO!
3. Released 10 books into the wild, even though it's pouring ran outside. I found creative spots to stash them and hope they find good homes!
4. Washed my hair. Not enough time for it to dry properly before I go to bed, but at least it's clean.
5. Lost my ATM/Credit Card. Yes, I'm the stupidest person in the world. I left in the the gorram ATM machine and then left to go shopping. When I went to check out at the grocery store I realized I didn't have it. By the time I rushed back (not 15 minutes later) it was gone. ARG! So I had to cancel it. Luckily, the last transaction was the deposit I made, so I didn't lose any money. But EVERYTHING I have is tied to that card and now I have to wait 7-10 days for a new one and then change all my accounts- my student loan, Amazon.com, my storage unit, PayPal, etc. Ugh. I'm so stupid! Who leaves her card IN the ATM and walks away? Well, I've gone to an ATM and found a card in it already before, so I know I'm not the only one who's done that, but I still feel stupid and annoyed with myself. So much work I didn't need. And now I don't have it to use for the next 10 days! I wish I'd gotten cash out of the ATM tonight!

Date: 2008-04-04 05:41 am (UTC)Sorry I've been off the radar for so long, I've been following along even though I'm not posting or commenting. I also still have you gifts siting up in my bedroom waiting for me to find a box...but I digress.
Sorry about your card, that sucks. Did you check to make sure it wasn't sucked into teh machine. My husband left one in a mall ATM once and the machine had a feature to pull the card in if it was left for a certain period. I had to go to the bank branch at the mall(not the ATM) to get it back.

Well, it was 10pm so no one was at the bank to tell me. I went to the ATM, dropped off a book on a bench across the street, drove down the street to the grocery store, bought two items, and then raced back to the bank to find the card gone. Seriously couldn't have been more than 15 minutes. Probably the machine did eat it, but there was no way to get it back out again without asking bank officials, and it was probably safer to cancel it just in case someone came by in that time period and stole it. *sigh* Well, what's done is done. And I'll never make that mistake again (I hope!)

Date: 2008-04-07 06:01 am (UTC)I have never seen the cheezburger site before... but I think it just might be the funniest thing I've ever seen in my entire life. I doubled-over laughing at some of them and had tears running down my face from laughing over others. After getting through 50 pages, I decided I really should save the ones I like to my computer. Then I realized there were more than 230 pages. Holy crap. That's TOO much funny!!!!
And the Torchwood fic. That was brill! I LOVED Ianto in it (YYYANTOE OF TURCHWAD!) and, seriously, how do people come up with ideas like this? Just about died laughing!!
Thanks so much for the recs! Certainly put a smile on my face many times over.
And... LOOK AT THAT! You've got yourself a fantastic Torchwood icon! *wants you to reply to my posts more so I have more excuses to stare at the adorableness that is SEXXIE JAK!* :-)

Date: 2008-04-07 05:38 pm (UTC)To give you an idea of how hooked I am, the LOTR Teitho Fanfiction Contest site updated about a week ago with a new set of fics. The theme this month was 'The Sea, The Sea!' There's tons of Legolas angst potential...new fics I've never read...a rare treat indeed.
And I haven't even read them yet.
Seriously...I spend every second home now trying to catch up with Torchwood fandom! I've even wiki'd 'Torchwood' and 'Cardiff' from work. I've only seen through series 1 thus far, but I'm having a marathon catch-up session with sirenprincess this Wednesday. Then I can finally roam without fear of spoilers.
I'm so glad you liked the LOLcats stuff. Now that I know you like that, I can now rec this community: http://community.livejournal.com/ihazastopwatch/
Hours and hours of guaranteed hilarity! Enjoy!
And thanks for prodding me into watching Torchwood. *hug of eternal gratitute*

Date: 2008-04-09 04:35 am (UTC)I like your addition to the Jack threat. I know you've seen a couple recent series 2 episodes, but if you've seen the wedding one... those looks Jack give Gwen... you'll know why I'm being especially hard on the good captain.
I am amazed that you'd delay enjoyment of sea-related LOTR goodness! We've created a monster! Torchwood IS addictive, isn't it? *giddy bounces*
Just continue to be careful of spoilers. I don't know how you & sirenprincess watch the series, but if it's off BBCAmerica here in the states, we're 3-4 episodes behind the UK. So even when you catch up, you might not actually be caught up. I avoid discussion boards/communities and delete Torchwood episode e-mails I get on the Barrowman list because I was spoiled for Owen (teh ded of Turchwad) during my one and only venture into a community, thanks to an enjoyable user icon from a UK-viewer. But I know some people get the episodes illegally and keep up with the UK in realtime.
Oohhh but I envy you and your upcoming enjoyment of season 2. Ianto has some of the BEST moments ever in season 2. Even more emotional than cyberwoman and even more sarcastic than... season 1 :-)
But I've got enough Torchwood goodness to be getting on with. I have a few of the books on audio (there's a great whumped!Ianto scene in Hidden by Steven Savile, by the way)
