Days running together
May. 11th, 2008 01:14 amMy life at present:
-Writing LMOM over at Pervy_Werewolf. Having fun with it, but it's a lot of work writing a story every single day!
-Experienced my first earthquake this week. It was a 1.8. Since we're on bedrock here in VA we heard a loud bang and then the whole building (I was at work) shook for a few seconds. Very exciting!
-We moved our in-house server to a new machine/operating system last weekend. Which meant I worked overtime (until 9:30pm on Friday and all day Saturday). It was friggin exhausting and I made a mistake that contributed to the reason we had to erase the whole thing and reinstall from scratch on Friday.
-I'm trying to move the web server (which is in Seattle and I'm in Virginia) to a new machine, too. I've spent two weeks on it and it's still not done. Sooo many problems. I was supposed to have Friday off to make up for the overtime but I just couldn't do it. And on Thursday, just when I thought 90% was done, I rebooted the new machine and we lost everything. This time NOT my fault. LOL But after 4 hours of work (I had to wait for the west coast boys to wake up and come to work first) we got it back up and running. But, seriously, this project has seriously eaten my entire life
-Writers' Roundtable group went well. MUCH better than last time. Thank goodness. I shared a bit of my NaNoWriMo story and they didn't think it sucked as much as I think it sucked.
-BookSales were great. I'm drowning in books but that's okay. Tis a happy death.
-I'm not fond of any of the teams playing for the cup. All I care about is preventing Cindy from hoisting the cup. Must keep the whiner from getting the cup at all costs. So go Flyers! Never thought I'd say that. LOL
-I'm torn up about Olie Kolzig leaving the Capitals. I cried. I can't even imagine the team without Olie the Goalie. I want him to be happy, and I know he wasn't happy at the end of the season (can't blame him).
- My expensive glasses/sunglasses broke. They can be fixed (the magnet that holds the sunglasses on came off) but I don't even have time to go drop them off at the optomologist's. Gah.
-Just watched the Doctor Who movie today (from 1996). Thank you, YouTube! Dear Gods but I love Paul. What an awful, fun movie. I know everyone hates Number Eight because of canon but it's PAUL! *loves him*
- Sunday is Mother's Day. All Mom wants is a trip to the nursery to buy plants and have us help her plant them. She wants a tomato plant and a pepper plant for the deck. I got her a card and a balloon and tiny presents to go in a small gift basket. Hope she's okay with that. She doesn't eat candy/chocolate any more, hates breakfast in bed, hates getting flowers (I'm with her), so it's tough getting her typical little presents.
- Monday is Mom's 60th birthday. She still wants nothing. I got her a card and a hardcover bird reference book and some bird notecards. Hope that's enough. She insists we get her nothing but it just doens't feel right. LOL
- Mom & Dad (and possibly sister) will be leaving to go to Iowa to help get some of Grandma & Grandpa's old house straightened out before it's put on the market. I'll be taking care of the animals and trying to work at the same time. And handle LMOM at the same time. Basically... I will be getting about 3 hours of sleep a day and going crazy with business and stress. I'm happy to do it because I love the aminals... it's just a lot to handle. Feedings 5-10 times a day, walking the dog 4-6 times a day, dishes, trash/recycling, working 9 hours a day, commuting back & forth several times a day, writing in every spare second. Oh man, I'm screwed.
- Wednesday I have a volunteer appreciation luncheon to go to. I RSVPed that I can attend. Hope I still can.
- Next Friday I have a class to attend on campus. Oh gods. How am I going to manage that one?? Shite. Plus I have a class out of town next next Wednesday. OMG this is SO not going to work. HELP
