Had a good day!

Met our new Conference Director. He seems like a nice guy. Probably overwhelmed with the amount of stuff to learn at the new job, but he seems nice. And I told him to come to me if he has any computer problems. Of course I said that about 4 times so it was probably overkill but after giving him two papers' worth of passwords and bombarding him with more details about printers and applications than he probably needed at any moment, I thought it didn't hurt too much to reiterate.

I voted on my way home from work and my guy won the election. There was a whole 2% turnout rate at the polls *sigh*. I get REALLY pissed off at people who don't vote. So many people fought and died for that right and we can't be bothered to get off our arses for 10 minutes to give a damn and push a button? Annoys me.

The Wolves won the Calder Cup- so sorry Penguins. Both your teams lost. Boo hoo. I was disappointed that the game wasn't on TV (games 1-5 were, but not game 6) but I followed it online and listened to most of the third. The Chicago Wolves sounded very happy. *sigh* That's the last hockey game that'll be played for a while. Worlds is over, NHL is done, AHL is done. There's the awards show Thursday and then the draft. And that's it.

I watched the last 3 episodes of Season 3 Doctor Who tonight. I've had them DVRed for a few months now (since my birthday, come to think of it) and I've had them on DVD from Blockbuster Online for two weeks now. I've been putting it off because I wanted to save the Jack goodness. Boy, it was great to see John Barrowman's name on the credits. And MAN it was good to see Captain Jack with the Doctor again. Those episodes made me cry several times. DAMN good. And not just because of Jack, naturally, though now I have a new, FIERCE Torchwood sneezefic bunny in my head thanks to the Sound of Drums. But they were great episodes all-around. That show is brilliant. I know people say it's got its faults but I still love it.

I also finally finished reading Doctor Who and the Brain of Morbius. Yay. Sarah Jane Smith rocks *G* I definitely OD'ed on the Doctor tonight.

HOWEVER, while watching aforementioned Doctor Who episodes and listening to aforementioned hockey game, I was finished up a Harry Potter fic that's sort of a prequel to one of the fics I wrote for the last Sneezefic Challenge. It's a Harry fic and as soon as I've got a title, I'm going to post it to [livejournal.com profile] hcfic

So.. yeah... twas a good night. With any luck, I'll post, shower, and be in bed before 1am.

Had you not seen Utopia/Sound of the Drums/Last of the Time Lords before now? Oh boy, those 3 eps totally made the entire series 3 for me. Just fantastic. Epic, really. Oh yay, someone new to discuss this with!

Jack was awesome, as usual (well, except for the whole "abandoning-his-Torchwood-Team-that-was-recently-grieving-heavily-over-his-pale-corpse-without-a-backwards-glance" thing, but they addressed that well enough for me in 'Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang' so I'm happy to leave that be for now.) I loved his 'blogging' with Martha and his not being able to say 'hello' to anyone without flirting. Felt terribly bad for him that the Doctor didn't want him and didn't express any remorse for what happened to Jack or for leaving him. *hugs Jack*

Part 3 is what completely and totally sealed my admiration for Martha. I already felt a kind of kinship when she was first introduced, what with the medical student thing, and myself doing the 'white coat pharmacy student medical rounding' thing not so very long ago. Martha really has some nerve and courage, and I think I respect her more than any of the other companions now. Still love Rose/Nine *and* Rose/Ten though. They're so much fun, but Martha's the one I'd pick if I needed serious work done, I think. Especially now that she's worked for UNIT and helped Torchwood. Plus she ships Jack/Ianto, so yay! *G*

The regenerated Master was one of the more entertaining guest stars I've ever seen in the Whoniverse, too. Loved his crazy-moments of dancing and inappropriate glee! Could have done without the wrinkled teeny tiny Ten though...

Edited because I forgot to delete an extraneous sentence fragment. My bad!

Speaking of 'Sound of the Drums' and plot bunnies... that wouldn't, by chance, have anything to do with a wild goose chase to the Himalayas would it? Because my mind went LOTS of fun and evil places picturing Team Torchwood in the snowy cold mountains, both angsty h/c evil and fluffy cold and miserable-type evil, hee-hee! ;)

That ep also had stuff I found highly amusing involving Jack making and serving coffee to Martha and the Doctor. And earlier, in Utopia, he held the Doctor's coat for awhile too. Jack is SO the Doctor's Ianto just then. *G*

Also, I heart Jack for attempting to call Torchwood when he got back to London. He may have left them, but he made the effort to reconnect. Good boy! And I love the longing glances at the water sculpture in Cardiff when talking about getting back to his Team. *sigh* Team love makes Kora happy...

And, most importantly, I could do ANYTHING to them because time reverses and it all gets reset afterwards! Bwahaha!
SO true! What's really fun is that you can do two versions of the same trip in one fic. After things reset themselves, everything was fine in the end, but the Team still went to the Himalayas in both scenarios. It's just that I happen to think they only came home in one piece the second time 'round. Even the happier ending is fodder for yummy fic though!

I think you're very wise to spread out the Doctor Who material like you are. I am caught up on DW series 4 as of the BBC America schedule, and I'm going to have to fight with myself about whether or not to jump ahead once the finale has aired in the UK, because I don't want to be spoiled, but I know I can't avoid the 'net and fic for that long in the summer when nothing else is going on.

What can I say? I'm in the flush of new fandom love still, and absolutely devouring anything I can get my hands on. I've bought the first 4 TW magazines off ebay. I own and have read all 6 of the hardcover TW novels. I have listened to both TW audiobooks, the audio version of 'Anything Goes' by John Barrowman, and the Cult Conversations interview with Gareth David-Lloyd. I'm 5 eps into rewatching TW series 1 again, though I admit to having watched ep 6 'Countrycide' far more than the others because team outings make me happy, as does Ianto in jeans. Well, Ianto in anything, really.*G* Right now I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping nothing happens to make Gareth back out of Dragon*Con this Labor Day weekend.

Oh, and I totally cracked up at the bow and arrow part too! Only when I first saw it, I hadn't read your MMoM stuff yet, so it's even funnier now! *G*
