tarotgal: (Breaking Down)

I just finished watching A Home at the End of the World. Has anyone else seen it? I totally don't know how to feel about it. I just listened to the abridgment of the book and absolutely loved it, so I rushed right out and rented the movie a day later. And... well, I loved so much of the movie but the end just killed me. Would it have killed them to cast an Erik? I mean... maybe I missed a key crucial part in the book and all where Jonathan gets sick, too? Is that it? Can anyone help me out or am I just going to have to get the book out of the library (third time's a charm?)

I adored most of the movie, though. Johnathan/Claire could have been a lot stronger. But there were SO many times I shouted "THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE MOVIE TONIGHT!" and HUNTER was in it! heehaws! That was delightful and unexpected! He made a great Jonathan. And I loved it. I loved the book and I loved the movie... except I shouldn't have watched the end because now I'm all emotional and crying and confused and... stupid Pediatric is useless for this book! LOLL

On a completely different note... I think I'm going to join my local chapter of the Harry Potter Alliance. It just started up and the first meeting is next Wednesday. My favorite part of college were the clubs and organizations. Gods. Meet up.com and Face book make me feel like the world is my college now. It's crazy cool.

And on a totally different note altogether, my aunt (the one up in Canada) was thrown from her horse on Sunday and nearly died. Yeah. Crushed her lungs a little but mostly her liver and ribs. She's been through a few operations and there are huge rods sticking out of her. Today they found out she also broke part of her tail bone so, yeah, that's fun. She's going to be in a wheelchair for about 6 or 7 months but considering what could have happened, I'm utterly relieved she's doing so well. Today apparently she was able to put some weight on her left leg and pivot. And they're taking the catheter out tomorrow, so that's good news. They say she might get to leave the hospital next week. So that's awesome. And every time we call the hospital they're sooooooooooooo friendly and informed and remind me why we don't have healthcare like that here in the US? I mean, okay, maybe not every hospital is as nice, but it's not like every hospital here in the US is nice and we don't even have universal healthcare. But I'm not going to get into that. Point is... bad accident. Aunt making slow but positive recovery. Am relieved. Mom and my other aunt might go up to visit her to help out around the house and such. I might go up, too, if I can. Her husband (also an accountant) is handling both their clients right now. And her daughter (middle school-aged) is helping out but will be back in school soon.

But... yeah... life's okay. Lots of ups and downs. Like that movie. GODS what happened in that movie????? Crazy simplified. Makes me wonder how simplified the abridgment was. Maybe I should just go get it out of the library and save myself some confusion. Anyone? Anyone? Beuller?
