An image of Horatio sitting on his cot and sneezing popped into my head while I was driving to work today. I used my lunch break to start writing it, and I couldn't do anything else until it came out! I've set it during Hotspur, some time around chapters 14-16. Hopefully I didn't step on canon too very much this time. Had a lot of fun writing it, though. Horatio's just sooooo nummy when he's miserable :-) I'm so VERY sorry that it's already August and I'm still churning out giftfics. *headdesk* But I hope this meets with your approval, snowshie, and have a great rest of the year!

Date: 2008-08-22 06:02 am (UTC)This was so incredibly sweet. Just what I needed. To be perfectly frank, I think I enjoyed the comfort element of this fic even more than the sneezing. Not that the sneezing wasn't great. ;) Bush's caring for Hornblower, the vulnerability, how bloody mercurial the man is. Just spot on. And Bush's interaction with Doughty! Fantastic.
And the whist reference? Gold. Holy crap, I love you for adding that. Lol! Thank you again! You rock my fuzzy Canadian socks. :)

No worries. I know what you mean. I'm flattered you enjoyed the h/c aspects so much!
I adore Bush so much and it's great to see Hornblower from his POV... especially when Hornblower isn't in the best condition and Bush is in "worried, fussy woman" mode. I just couldn't resist playing with that here.

I'd love to write a strip whist fic... but Bush would absolutely kill me for putting him in that position ;-)
