tarotgalFirst off, yesterday I backed up all my LJs and communities. I hope that LJ will stay in business because it really is still my favorite place to play. But I do have an insane journal I use to mirror my LJ, just in case something happens.
Second, one of my family's cats, Sugar (the white, blue-eyed deaf one), isn't doing so well. It's a long, long story which involves an emergency vet run on New Year's Eve and another on New Years Day morning until 3:30am and three more this week. So I've kind of been bummed and in denial and worried like hell (does hell worry?). But today they did surgery to put in a feeding tube and for the first time in 3 days she got food (she doesn't want to eat on her own) and she kept it down, so we hope she'll be able to keep her medicine down now. Anyway, I've been unmotivated and lazy and very very worried. The vet still doesn't know what's wrong with her. It could be related to her ventricular tachycardia with accessory pathway thing or it could be unrelated and be liver disease. They don't know yet. I'm just trying not to think about it every second of the day. But I miss the little Sugar ball of fluff.
Third, would anyone be interested in me making a hurt/comfort rec LJ community? I have an h/c journal I don't update much but I'd love for everyone to post links to their favorite fics and fics they come across.
Fourth, we almost had snow today. There were flurries in the air for 5 minutes but hardly anything touched ground or stuck. That's as much snow as we've had this winter. *sigh* I know others are being blanketed in snow and it's awful... but can't you just send me a little? All I want is one snow this winter!
Fifth, I might be buying a new car soon. It'll be my first actual real car buying experience (my current car I bought third-hand from my best friend's father. Did the whole car loan thing and all but that wasn't buying it at a dealership. I'm rather nervous about that but kind of excited, too. I desperately want a Honda Element!) My current car is a 1996 Honda Civic and the dealer told me there's about $3000 work to do on it. At my last oil change, my local garage said it had about 3,000 or 4,000 miles left on it before it started breaking down. That was about 6,000 miles ago. So... better safe than sorry, right? Here's me doing my bit for the economy and buying a $18000-$24000 car! Don't spend it all in one place.
Sixth... not making much progress on Lady K's Jan 10th Legolas/Gimli gift. The idea is in my head, it's just not coming out right. I get home from work exhausted and blah. But I'll make a really strong effort tomorrow to have it up by the end of Sat. I can't ruin a good streak now. LOL

I really need to get a new car, too. Since my brother got his license in Sept he's been using my car more than I have. Not very convenient as we now have 4 cars for 5 drivers and we all go different places at different times. I'm looking, though.

Sometimes I feel like having 4 cars for 4 people in my family is kind of wasteful. But *sigh* we're a society that's dependent on our cars. I hope you have a good hunt for yours!

The second feeding did not go very well tonight and my mother freaked out worrying she hadn't gotten enough medicine into her. So I have to worry about Sugar AND my mother now *sigh* But at least Sugar's home with us instead of at the vet, so I feel better about that. I really appreciate the thoughts; she needs all the positive vibes she can get, I think. *hugs*
