Okay, so a couple things related to movies...
I saw The Reader with some BC friends last Sunday. It was amazingly good. I'd read most of the book, then watched the movie, then finished the book Tuesday. Strange ordering, but good nonetheless. Unfortunately, I can't think of anything brilliant to say about it right now. But it deserves much thought and I LOVED it. Highly recommended. Also, I've got to mention that, though it's a wonderful budding romance built on great hurt/comfort, the beginning of the movie also carries a high v-ing warning. I'd read the book so I was prepared for a little but it sounded like a lot more than a little. I had my eyes closed and fingers in ears and was humming to myself very softly so I don't know for sure, but it's definitely enough to warn about. Don't like that stop you, though, because the rest is spectacular.
I rented Naked Boys Singing, which was just like the off-Broadway show I saw... exactly like it, actually, because it was pretty much a video of the stage show. LOL Highly worth it. Also, some very cool trailers, one of which was Boy Culture. As soon as I realized Noah was in it, I immediately put it on my Blockbuster Queue. Funny thing is, callmetina gave it to me under my virtual Christmas Tree! Awesome gift. I freakin loved it. Definitely not Another Gay Movie, that's for sure. I loved the attitude and bluntness. I loved the whole thing muchly. The, er, comments in the interviews sort of insulting Queer as Folk I could definitely have lived without, but the movie rocked. I think I might have to buy it. In 5 years when I have money again. LOL!
And I just now watched Mamma Mia! Which had a little more camp to it than I'd expected, but it was fun. And... Colin Firth! The music was great. The narrative integrated with the songs was terribly clever. But I'm sorry, I just about died at the half-naked, gay, soaking wet, trying-to-dance Colin Firth character. Just about had a heart attack. Soaking wet Colin is just a given and a welcome sight. But gay and half-naked? A joy! LMAO Oh, and Meryl Streep was amazing.

Date: 2009-01-22 10:22 pm (UTC)They're not broken. The challenge runs until March. When the challenge is over, we'll put the stories online for everyone to read. The headers are there now just so people know what's been submitted so far. Sometimes people like to choose bunnies that haven't been written for yet. Sometimes people want to make sure we receive their entries. So we put the headers up and when the challenge is over we will put all the stories online both on the website and on the special Yahoo Group for the challenge (which you can join any time).
But thanks for your interest and stopping by to check out the challenge.
