I've been so very bad about posting here, haven't I? I'm sorry. I love you all! *hugs*

It's You're Such an Animal Challenge month over at BookCrossing. I went to the zoo yesterday and released about 30 books. None have checked in yet but here's hoping. Also going again this Saturday to release another bagful. Parking at the zoo is $20 but I'm glad I drove because someone committed suicide yesterday by jumping in front of a Metro train. The red line was shut down and that's the only line that goes to the zoo. But my friend got there about 2 hours later and joined me; that was fun. And this weekend we're going to have a big group of us there! That'll be exciting. But, more exciting, is that yesterday I decided to purchase a Zoo membership. The zoo is free but there are perks to joining-- discounts at the store, free panda stuffed animal, invitations to special events, magazine, and free parking! So two visits to the zoo and the membership pays for itself. AND it goes to help the aminals. What could be better? I bought an individual membership but considered the "Young Professionals" membership for a while. Not sure I'm into meet & greets and stuff but it would be fun to get involved with other young conservationists. Maybe next year.

Let's see... I still haven't talked about Lord of the Rings: the Two Towers, Harry Potter the Exhibition, or BrickFair. I'll do that, I promise.

I finally ended up joining the Wizard Rock EP of the Month Club. The Peeved CD MORE than makes the purchase worth it. I'm totally in love with that WRocker right now *G* While I was at it, I bought the whole 2008 set. LOL Because... well... I can has exclusive WRock songs? Yes pleez! It took me about 3 months to seriously weigh the decision... even though I've been thinking about it a little for about a year now. I haven't listened to anything but Peeved's yet but I loaded all of 2009 thus far into iTunes at work so as soon as I finish earreading the Gargoyle, I'm breaking into it.

So right now I'm reading two books I'm not so hot about. The Gargoyle came well-recommended and has its moments... but it's... weird. And DARK AS ANYTHING and... just plain weird. And graphic- not in a good way. But, here's one description: a former porno writer/director/actor is in a car accident which leaves him burnt, scarred, and disfigured. While he's recovering he begins a "relationship" with a women who claims she knew him in a former life. Now she sculpts gargoyles manically and takes him in.
Sounds like something I'd like, right? Interesting sex perspective, hurt/comfort potential, right?
Here's another description: a guy who's way too vain hallucinates and crashes his car. In the accident he loses almost all his skin, makes it difficult for him to talk, and takes off his penis. And did I mention he loses his skin? Then this bat-crazy psycho ward chick comes onto him and tells him stories about when she was in a convent in the Middle Ages(?) and fell in love with him. Even he thinks she's a little bonkers but he goes to live with her afterwards. She creates gargoyles and the act of creating each one practically kills her and she claims she will die when she finishes sculpting a certain number. And then he goes on a morphine-withdrawal trip into his version of Dante's Inferno that lasts for-freakin-ever.
Hmm. Not so hot on that version.

But I'm still liking it better than the other book I'm earreading: The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Holy cow. It was an HPA book club book, I think. And there are 900-something 5 star reviews on Amazon. And, yeah, I don't like the guy reading the book but, seriously, I hate the book. I don't know WHY I keep reading it except that I want to finish it for good. At least 5 times during my 20 minute commute I'll say out loud "this book is so awful." And it is. It's just badly written. The main character is inconsistent. It really feels like the author went down a checklist of issues/concepts when writing. Most of the time the narrator talks like he's a 12 year-old and then he'll say something CRAZY old like "I think he will regret this life choice later on in life when he looks back at it." HUH? Okay, so high school students can be crazy-perceptive, I can believe that. But not one that seems to know NOTHING about ANYTHING. "Then Patrick explained to me what masturbation is. Do you know what it is? It feels really good, to tell you the truth." Ahhh! Seriously. I LOVE young adult books and I was prepared to enjoy this one, but it's soooo painful. It's like a very bad version of Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret.

Speaking of that... Judy Blume is one of the writers who will be at this year's book festival. Sooooo many good writers this year, I don't know how I'll pick who to see: Holly Black, Kate DiCamillo, Tony DiTerlizzi, Lois Lowry, Steven Kellogg, Judy Blume, James Patterson, John Grisham, Jodi Pocoult, John Irving, Nicholas Sparks, Jeannette Walls, Sue Monk Kidd, Tim O'Brien... and another 65 or so.

The [livejournal.com profile] hpdaisychain is going all right. Slow and steady. Our new pairing is Luna/Voldemort. Yikes! LOL I decided to write a short drabble for each pairing. This one's going to be difficult.

But my big news... are you ready for it? I'm going to Infinitus in 2010! Yes! I bought my ticket before prices went up. And I reserved my hotel room today! I'm planning to stay a day extra to hit the other Universal Theme Parks (kinda sucks to hit them alone but maybe someone else will stay with me). So it's a done deal! I'm thinking of taking the train there. Yes... TAKING THE TRAIN TO HOGWARTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How cool would that be? It's about $100 each way which isn't so bad. And, again, I'd be taking the train to Hogwarts. Ach, the theme park looks soooooooo good. Leaky posted new photos of it today. I cannot WAIT! I was thinking of maybe staying one extra day on top of that so I can actually go to it again... but only if they have one of those passes available where you can go to every Universal theme park in Orlando (they'll have 3 by then) as many times as you want to in a week. That would be perfect. Sooo cool. I can't wait. Can't wait can't wait can't wait!
