Date: 2009-12-31 12:20 am (UTC)Yeah, I read them because a few RL Harry Potter friends were reading them. And once I start a series I feel compelled to finish it, just to know how the heck it ends. But... yeah. While the characters were interesting, the way she steels plots from well-known literature because she can't come up with her own is bad... and her writing is just PAINFUL. I was a teenage girl once; I don't want to live through that again. Moreover, it's full of a lot of things I do not morally agree with AT ALL.
Um, yeah. And it's creepy. Even though he's a vampire, Edward somehow had viable sperm after 100+ years. They have sex once (funniest part of the books) and she gets pregnant (also injured; sex with a rock-hard vamp hurts). There are lots of complications involved in her pregnancy including her craving for human blood and her being unconscious for a third of the book (Jacob takes over the narration). She has a little baby named Renesmee (combination of Renee and Esme) but people call her Nessie (even though it makes her sound like the Loch Ness Monster). Right out of the womb she can talk by putting her hand on someone's face and conversing with them telepathically. And if that's not bad enough, Jacob imprints on her before the lass is even born. Yes, he was obsessed/in love with her MOTHER (to the point of forcing himself on her more than once which is NOT cool under any circumstance) and now Jacob has imprinted with Bella's infant daughter (who ages quickly, conveniently, then stops when she's teenaged). It's... honestly... all kinds of hilarious, painful, and creepy. You definitely have it right about that bleach bit!!!
