Highs & Lows

I was an uncharacteristically brave Hufflepuff and dropped my pants on the Metro (in front of reporters, photographers, local ABC-7 News cameras, and public passengers) yesterday! Today, on the other hand, was miserable. Bad dentist appointment (though I managed to help one of the receptionists with the user interface on her program LOL) in the sense that I had to wait 45 minutes to see the dentist and so they were only able to fix one of my two problems (and the one they fixed is only 75% fixed, but at least they didn't charge me because it was just a repair of something that fell out within 6 hours of getting it the last time). I walked into work this morning to find 2 out of 3 people in my department were having computer issues. I hadn't even taken off my coat and put down my purse and I had to troubleshoot. They migrated our e-mail accounts on Friday (really, Saturday morning from the timestamp, it seems) and it didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped. 6 out of 40 e-mail accounts had problems this morning. Which isn't a lot, percentage-wise, but I had hoped for NO problems. And the mail host forgot to send me instructions about how to manage the accounts so I couldn't even go in and administer them to figure out what was wrong (and it was all different things. One was set up wrong on my boss' computer, another they had FORGOTTEN to transfer and set up an alias for another didn't want to send mail out but could receive it, etc.). Worse than that, my coworker's computer was FINE on Friday and this morning it refused to start up. So I spent a lot of time trying to get it to boot up past the stupid gray & blue screens. After 2 phone calls to Apple support and much time reinstalling the operating system & backing up user folders, I finally got it back up and running and she didn't lose any files. But the applications were corrupted so I had to uninstall a lot and reinstall it. And of course I had my normal work and members contacting me regarding their updates on top of that.
I love my job, please don't get me wrong. I like working hard especially when I fix all of the problems (which I did today- yay!). It's just exhausting when everything breaks within the first half an hour of me walking in the door on Monday morning. Can't it wait and spread the problems out throughout the week? Or at least wait until I take my jacket off? I feel like I did a week of work in just a day. I'm ready for the weekend already!
So, yeah. Fun & misery. Highs & lows. Story of my life :-) Let's hope tomorrow is back up on the happy/high/fun side of things.
And I'm late for bed. Hurrying off now. Damn. Another New Year's Resolution broken. Night all!
