Harry Potter Obsession

"Harry Potter has taken over life as we know it, I have to admit. I gave up hiding my obsession..." ~Lauren Fairweather
Today I did the ultimate in dorky Harry Potter obsessiveness... I purchased my first pair of Converse shoes. I tried on, like, 6 different pairs and I had just decided that I wasn't going to buy them because they didn't have blue ones in the right size and style and I liked the blue ones but... then I tried on the Charcoal sized 8's and they didn't feel like the other size 8s I tried on before in the different style (I'm usually a 7 or 7 1/2). And they felt SO good I bought them right then and there.
Well, no, first I went over and bought some dog toys to donate at the Can't Stop the Serenity charity screening in a few weeks. And I explored our expanded but not yet finished new Super Target a little. And bought some cookie dough Luna protien bars. Yeah. I'm even EATING things that have references to Harry Potter.
I have definitely lost my mind. LOL Where's the support group for crazy, broke fangirls?
Speaking of fandoms, though, I have been wanting to re-watch all of Buffy for some time now. I finally just broke down and did it. And I thought it would be fun to watch them not only in order but in order with Angel as well. I've never done that before and it's been a lot of fun. On Monday I finished Buffy Season 4 and Angel Season 1. I'm tired of changing discs all the time but it's well worth it for canon timeline awesomeness.
As for fics... LMoM went well... I'll probably post about that separately. And I'm desperate to work on my Neville/Charlie fic and the Gibbs & Tony NCIS BDSM-verse fic Xanthe is allowing me to write. *loves* I actually buy myself a present every year for finishing LMoM. I can't remember what I bought last year... probably a Wizard Rock CD, since I did a Wizard Rock theme last year. The year before that I bought a Sonic Screwdriver after the Doctor Who crossover was finished. This year I bought those NCIS Zines of Xanthe's from Angent with Style I desperately wanted but needed an excuse to buy (Hiding in Plain Sight and The First Collar). I'm so happy!

Date: 2010-06-03 03:33 am (UTC)I wanted red ones, because of both the Tenth Doctor (red high tops), and Gwen (red low tops, see 'Countrycide' for example), but couldn't find any red, so I ended up going for my favorite color, purple. I like to think Tosh would approve. :)
Ah, fandom spending impulses!

Date: 2010-06-03 03:42 am (UTC)I did TOTALLY consider the red Tenth Doctor version!!!!! But I couldn't see myself getting used to high tops again. Red's not really my color, though. The whole red-orange-yellow family isn't me at all (though I'm warming to yellow because of the Hufflepuff in me). And I'm not good at color matchy-matchy and wouldn't know what I could wear such colors with (I DESPERATELY want my sister to go through my closet and make a list of clothes I can wear with each other or ones I must NOT wear with each other). Charcoal... I think that shouldn't be as much of a problem. And they're so pretty *pets* I had just resolved not to get any because spending $30 on something I wasn't sure about isn't me but then I totally fell in love. Maybe it just takes the right pair?
Purple. Ooooohhhhhh I love your choice! They didn't have any purples (TONS of pinks and yellows though).

Date: 2010-06-03 03:54 am (UTC)Grey/charcoal is an awesome choice. It's totally the new black...goes with almost everything, and looks sophisticated. I actually bought some grey suede low boots this winter, rather than black, because they were so neat looking.
I only realized after I got home from buying my Converse that I probably should have checked the men's section for red ones. I do have enough red clothes to make it worthwile. I'm like you in that I stay pretty far away from anything remotely orangey/yellow. I do have one really pale pastel yellow top that works, but otherwise, I don't even try. But like Ianto, any reds that go to the cool end of the spectrum and have bluish tones, like wine, burgundy, deep reds, etc. look great on me. It amuses me to no end that all the same colors that look good on him are the ones that look best on me as well. *G* We both have blue eyes and really similar pale skin tones, despite me being a blonde.

Date: 2010-06-03 12:28 pm (UTC)They're quite prevalent in the fandom. So much so that in the Moaning Myrtle's song "Transparent" you get the lines "Because of Wizard Rock/I wear contact lenses and converse shoes/Because of Wizard Rock/Harry asked me out and I refused." Which neatly ties in with the comment you made on my LJ yesterday LOL I think I'd totally date him. Doesn't meant I'd want to be an a LTR with him, but it would be fun to snog the Boy Who Lived.
