Thank gods I'm a Hufflepuff
Nov. 9th, 2010 12:49 amSo... I wish I'd gone to Wrockstock. This weekend I got a lot of Convention work done, and it really needed to get done (I feel better about it now), but pretty much no one showed up for a trial run of it--one more reminder of how relying on other people never works out for me at all LOL And I had a really awful, awful experience on the Metro that I can't even talk about and am hoping one day will leave my memory entirely (though I doubt it). And, yeah, I chose a prior commitment over fun, like the responsible person I am. But I should have listened to D and let her talk me into going to Wrockstock with her. I missed seeing Oliver Boyd's last performance. And I was certain I could at least watch online, like I did last year, but they didn't even livestream it! So I missed out entirely. And I'm really bummed. This was the year to go, and I missed it. *sigh* I miss out on so many good things.
But at least I have the New York Wizard Rock Festival to look forward to! That weekend is soooooooooo going to rock. I'm seeing DH Part 1 at mightnight with friends and then again later that day in IMAX (my frist time ever seeing an HP movie in IMAX). There's a party at work on Friday, but I might just take the day off to sleep and pamper myself. I need happy things to look forward to.
This weekend is a Highlander Maxi-Gathering, which should be fun, though I won't have a lot of time to watch episodes around everything else, so I'm a little sad. I've got a Write-in Friday night, volunteering at the library Saturday morning, making blankets for Project Linus with the Harry Potter Alliance in the afternoon, a Write-in all evening and into late night on Saturday with maybe a late dinner at IHOP afterward, and a Write-in on Sunday.
I worked on a bit of a Strokes story tonight. Just about to get into Auntie Al's backstory a little. Very happy about that, even though the circumstances aren't particularly great. But I adore how quick this scene is going (probably because I've been writing it in my head for about 2 years now). I'm not making too much progress on giftfics, I'm afraid. I've finished 2 of them (though they need serious editing because I was in NaNoWriMo churn words out mode) and I've started 2 or 3 others. But some I'm completely stuck on. So we'll see what happens. I'll keep working on them. There's time yet!
I bought the LEGO Tower Bridge set tonight. That was a huge thing for me. I'm thinking my December 101 Things project will be putting together all my un-put-together LEGO sets. That'll be fun. I also bought a jacket tonight. It's really warm and water resistant and wind resistant and has zippered pockets and velcro on the cuffs and an inside lining and hidden pockets and a zip on/off hood... it's kind of the best jacket ever. I broke the zipper of my current jacket about 2 months ago and I've been wearing it unzipped since then (gods, I sound poor). So I really needed a new one. I was looking through the racks tonight (I HATE clothes shopping) and hated everything I saw. I was ready to settle for something, just to have something I could wear. And then I saw this jacket. And I fell in love even as I was trying it on the first time.
Now I just need to lose weight and be two people so I can get everything done that I need to do... and I'll be golden.

Date: 2010-11-09 01:20 pm (UTC)I hear you on giftfics- I got off to such a great start and now I haven't touched them in about a week. I think I at least have a plot idea in my head for all of them... I think...

I'm sorry, but this makes me giggle. Being two people would mean gaining weight, wouldn't it? ;)
