Just got home from HP7
Nov. 19th, 2010 03:32 amI had one hell of a day. It started after midnight with a chat that lasted until 2:30. But then I couldn't shut anything off in my head so I didn't fall asleep until 4am. I went to work in full Hufflepuff garb (converse sneakers, knee-high socks, skirt, blouse, tie, sweater). After that, I raced over to Kingstowne for a very strange convention planning meeting. Strange in that: 1-that's not where we normally meet, 2-the internet blocked us off after 30 minutes, and 3-I laid it out on the table and pretty much fired the other two people. We started with a team of 5 and now we're down to 2. And do you know what the strange thing is? I know it means so much work for me but I felt SO much better--like a weight had been lifted. I've never fired anyone before. After that, I raced over to the theater for a Harry Potter Alliance Lumos Party. There were a total of 15 of us in my group and one Gryffindor grabbed the clipboard and got a ton of signatures on the petition. Yay! The theater/line we chose was the one with the special events and activities leading up to the movie showing. So at 9:30 the fun started with a trivia contest. Then came a fashion competition (I entered! I've never done that before! I lost dreadfully but got a small poster!). And then a game of Quidditch in the movie theater consisting of an employee dressed as a snitch who went and hid somewhere in the building while the rest of us batted a giant ball around in the crowd, earning points for one side of the room or the other depending on where it touched the ground.
Oh yeah, and then came the movie. I'd heard from some people that they couldn't really review it because it was only half a movie. I didn't understand that until I saw it. They're totally right. It's hard to describe. I certainly liked it. There was nothing I didn't like. And there were some moments I LOVED. I especially loved seeing Sirius' bedroom and any time Fred & George were on screen, they stole the attention easily. Oh, and Neville was already on his way to being kickass awesome. I liked the movie a lot. But it could use another watching. Good thing I'll be seeing it in IMAX in... oh... 16 hours. heehee
Also, hey, go to this page: http://dft.ba/-fairtrade and sign the petition there to ask Time Warner to use fair trade cocoa in Harry Potter candy. You can choose whatever house you want or you can use Hufflepuff in my honor.

Date: 2010-11-19 12:07 pm (UTC)How far through the book does the movie get? Do they have a lot of extra stuff from previous books that they skipped in the original movies because they didn't know it would become important later?
I signed the petition and listed myself as a Hufflepuff, BTW. :)

Date: 2010-11-19 06:04 pm (UTC)Thank you!!!!!!!!
No worries regarding not rejoining. We didn't get rid of them because we thought you would come back; we got rid of them because it was making it harder for us to do our work. Like you, they'll still be doing some of the smaller projects.
The movie... there are several very short bits where they kind of have to backtrack. "Hi, Harry. Meet Bill Weasley. He's our older brother, was attacked by a werewolf, and is now eating rare meat and marrying Fleur? Got it? Good. Moving on now." and "Hi, Harry. Meet Mundungus Fletcher. He's a shifty, untrustworthy guy that we're still depending on to help us for some reason even we don't understand but we don't see it as a problem." heehee The movie ends after the trio + Olivander, Luna, Griphook, and Dobby arrive at Shell Cottage after the escape from Malfoy manner. Actually, there's one scene right after that, but I won't ruin it for you.

Date: 2010-11-19 06:42 pm (UTC)I just woke up less than an hour ago :-) MUCH needed sleep. Too bad I'm totally off schedule now, though. I have to wake up at 4am on Sunday morning to catch a bus to NYC! :-)
