Happy Ritual Sacrifice With Pie Day!
Nov. 25th, 2010 12:46 pmIt's noon and I just woke up. Yay, I love days off from work! I had some good dreams last night as well, including one where I got to see the beginning of RENT (I woke up during the first number, sadly) and I was sitting along a long table and the cast kept coming into the audience so I was certain they'd do the big La Vie Boheme number on the table where I was sitting. I wish I'd have stayed awake long enough for that.
So, it's Thanksgiving today in the US, my least favorite holiday in the year, coming in far, far behind holidays such as "Sneak Some Zucchini on Your Neighbors Porch Day" and "Northern Hemisphere Hoodie Hoo Day". Historically, I've had very bad Thanksgivings, most of which involved stomach flus as a kid or visiting my mother in the hospital (that was last year's fun). Not to mention that I'm really not a food person. Eating out or eating good food doesn't thrill me the way it thrills other people. I've just never gotten excited about getting to eat foods. I mean, once the food is eaten, it's over. I don't understand why people would want to have a good meal compared to, say, getting DVD, which you can re-watch as many times as you like. And, as a vegetarian, the typical Thanksgiving foods aren't things I like anyway. I've NEVER liked stuffing (too many tastes and spices and things) and I detest cornbread, for example.
But so far it's been good. I've been able to sleep in and I woke up to find a great BookCrossing catch: http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/6650439
And the best part? We're not having Thanksgiving dinner today! My parents are currently remodeling the kitchen, which means we've been storing the cupboard contents in the dining room and using the fridge that we put in the family room. The floor was finally laid Tuesday & yesterday (so no more walking on floor boards) but we won't be able to put in the stove in time for making dinner today. So we're doing it tomorrow instead. Which means that today can just be fun and relaxing. I've got a lot of writing to get done!
Yesterday I had a 8.5 hour long write-in at a coffee shop and I managed to catch up and get 1 day ahead in NaNoWriMo. I barely wrote a word this part week, thanks to my trip to New York, lots of convention work, and the Harry Potter movie & Lumos parties. So now I'm all caught up. And, seriously, I'm THRILLED about this Harry Potter story. I got to an amazing plot twist last night that I think is really great. I can't wait to finish it and edit it and post it to share with y'all! It's about 25 pages long at the moment and probably there's another 10-15 pages left to go.
Another great thing that happened this week is that I won an online drawing for a set of LEGO Series 3 Minifigures! I feel sooooooooooooo lucky. SO many people entered and my name was drawn! Squee! I can't wait to get them and put them together and show them off on my blog more than a month before they're released to the public. Also, I'm making my December project to put together all my LEGO sets that aren't put together already. So this is great timing. It'll be LEGO December!
