Maxwell kitty

So I took Maxwell into the vet today for dental. I had an awful, nervous feeling about it (which is strange since last time I took him in, I was all right with it). They ended up pulling out two diseased teeth and they did blood work, so they found out he has kidney disease as well. Oh joy. He'll be my 4th cat with kidney disease. It's really mild right now, but we have to monitor it closely. I know the drill, and I remember having to help my mother give Liklik fluids twice a day. I hope it doesn't come to that with Max (we didn't have to do it with Puss and haven't had to do it with Butterscotch yet)

He's completely in pain and out of it right now. But the pain meds I gave him taste bad and he won't stop drooling and foaming at the mouth (it might also be from the stitches and lack of teeth in his mouth which feels funny and is keeping him from swallowing normally), which freaks him out so he tries running from the drool/foam and gets drool all over. I don't mind the drool at all, I just mind the fact that it freaks him out and he won't sit still to relax, which is what he really needs right now. He's constantly on the move and freaking out and sopping wet down his front no matter how many times I try to wipe him off. Argh. I just want to make my baby comfortable and stop hurting.

Aww, poor kitty. I hope he feels better soon. When we brought Echo back from the dentist she was completely crazy for a while because of the pain medicine. Evidently some cats don't react well to it, and the vet had us stop giving it to her. She was back to normal within hours. So if Maxwell doesn't calm down at all tonight, I'd ask your vet about it.
