So I've come to terms with the fact that this BookCrossing Convention has taken over. There's more work for it than I go do when I get home every day. I really look forward to this being over so I can think about something--anything--other than this every waking hour of my day. And we're soooo in trouble financially. We based our attendance numbers on the last 3 conventions and haven't even had half the people register who we'd budgeted for. At this point, I'll be out thousands of dollars because of it. It's going to be seriously awesome, don't get me wrong. I'm looking forward to the fun. But not the thousands and thousands of dollars in debt.

To try to at least break even with the hotel (not including the extra goodies we've already paid for out of pocket) we're doing some fundraising. A HUGE HUGE HUGE THANK YOU to those of you who have already donated. For those who want to help me out, check out this page: http://www.bcindc.zoiks.org/?page_id=844 Your donation will help determine what color(s) hair I will dye my hair (when we reach 70%).

I've never dyed my hair. I've not even had it professionally cut since elementary school. So this is a HUGE deal for me and I'm super excited about it. So not only can you help me, you can choose what color my hair will be. I might end up with several colors that don't go together at all. Or I might end up looking like Tonks. My fate is in your hands :-)

Today was my former boss' boss last day at work. Yesterday I remembered that he still had my Buffy DVDs and I still had 3 John Constantine graphic novels of his. So I speed red through the novels last night (went to bed around 2:30am as soon as I finished the last one). I thought I would enjoy the character and I definitely did. Today was really sad. I can't even imagine my office without him. He's moving on to being executive director of another writing organization, so I'm very happy for him. But I'm sad because I'm losing the biggest geek in my office (apart from me). To celebrate his last day, there were3 options on the table for this afternoon: 1- going to play laser tag as an office
2- going to a movie together
3- going to a bar to have drinks
Just to show you how different I am from the rest of the office, I was SUPER excited about options 1 & 2 and everyone ended up choosing 3, of course. *sigh* It's fine, because the group ended up having a heated (there was yelling involved) argument about Jane Austin, the Bronte sisters, and Henry James. Only MFA grads would go out drinking and argue about that kind of thing. LOL Anyway, I'm still sad. Almost everyone who was there when I took the job have moved on (there are now just 4 others).

Also, it's March. Time for Accio Books! I'm chairing my local chapter's book drive right now. All the other chapters are gunning for Chapter Cup (which my chapter won last year). If you don't have any books to donate... that's okay. Just go to Borders and spend some money using this: http://thehpalliance.org/downloads/dhc-resources/bordersdays/borders.pdf on March 19 & March 20.

I'm really all over the map with this post. It sounded better in my head. Anyway, I'm drowning in books right now and am totally on autopilot.
