Amy Tan, etc.
Sep. 20th, 2011 11:32 pmI saw & met author Amy Tan tonight. She had a conversation with one of the professors here and then read from her latest, unpublished work (which sounded excellent). She's well-spoken, open to talking about her books and her background, and very nice. I also released some Amy Tan books on campus tonight AND ran into TWO ex-employees of where I work (one I haven't seen in about 3 years). It's been a weird week where I run into people out of the blue.
I'm really excited about seeing Stephen King on Friday and then Cassandra Clare on Saturday (I know, she's not loved in some fanfic circles, but I like her original fiction and have never read her HP stuff).
Had a really nice chat last night with one of the guys from AIDS Walk Washington. He and his partner and getting a house right now too (they're doing a short sale and getting a fixer-upper, but it looks beautiful--I'm envious!). I liked 2 of the houses I saw yesterday very much, but both were just beyond my comfortable price range. I can afford a lot of really crappy places. So it's sad when I find one I actually like... and it's just beyond my budget. Arg.
Okay. It's 11:30PM. Time for dinner, then bed and trying to figure out what to do tomorrow night. Do I go to see a speaker I desperately want to see because I loved his book? Or do I go see 4 different people read, one of them being my boss and the other 3 ones I don't know? I'm so... torn and worried!!!
