Today... was a good day
Dec. 21st, 2011 12:40 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
My dad scored free hockey tickets from work (yay) so we went to the game together. And we WON! I haven't been to a game where the Caps won in years. Curse broken! *dance of joy*
I started reading a Clone Wars adult fiction novel. So far, it's a lot of angst and hurt padawans and Obi-Wan trying to deny his attachments to Ani and Qui-Gon. *loves*
I got a swap-bot package today filled with tons of goodies. Pens, stickers, stamps, ink pads, catnip toys for Max, socks, tea, journals, and more. I wanted to wait to unwrap all the gifts at Christmas, but suddenly I found myself opening them and couldn't stop. LOL
And this... this is of the AWESOME: http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/wb/thehobbit/
I'm very happy with it. I've only watched twice, but so far, very happy. Love the singing. And the look & feel is so in keeping with the other movies; I love that. Cameos are awesome. Bilbo is great. So are a lot of the dwarves... others are a little bumbling, but it'll be good to see them in context and get a good feel for each of the characters. I'm not at all disappointed.
OH! And that Tony/Steve/Logan fic I said I was thinking of writing? I didn't actually write that one, but I wrote another one with the three of them. Yay Avengers! http://www.squidge.org/~peja/cgi-bin/viewstory.php?sid=51511
And speaking of that site, I was the most prolific author of September there! How cool is that? I don't win it the month I upload 72 stories, but I happen to win it September with 11 stories. Haha.
Also... bad news, I haven't TOUCHED gift fics since November. So I'm freaking out a little now. ACK. Time to get cracking! But first... getting caught up on book reviews...

Date: 2011-12-21 04:01 pm (UTC)The Hobbit Trailer, oh man. I was genuinely shocked by how moved I was by it. Not because of the story itself, but because of the sheer joy in seeing Middle Earth again! I think I started off smiling at Bag End, then I got a little choked up in Rivendell and ELVES! By the time they were showing sweeping shots of the band of travelers moving across that gorgeous and familiar looking landscape of mountains and craggy hills, I was so emotional I had tears in my eyes and thought I might even cry. And then when I saw Gollum, I laughed and almost felt giddy. YES, LOTR is back!! SO EXCITED!
(My only complaint: too many dwarves with no beards/incredibly short beards. They alternatively looked like humans or Klingons to me. No self-respecting Dwarf would ever go out with his beard in such a state! At least that's what LOTR fanon has taught me. *G*)
Don't worry about my gift fic. I'm going crazy with holiday prep right now too, so I understand. Feel free to push mine back to whenever to take some stress off yourself!

Date: 2011-12-21 04:26 pm (UTC)Yeah *G* I totally flipped out seeing the 3-D trailer for TPM. And with a Qui/Obi writer in my RL Writers' Roundtable group (cleverly changing the names and setting, but I know it's really Qui & Obi) and this book I'm a quarter of the way into now, I'm excited to start on Day 2 of the giftfics tonight (I was writing them out of order; big mistake, tg!)

Too late. Yours is done (and about 8 pages long... so much for my "I'll limit it to 3-4" original plan). Good thing you're in a LotR mood now...

Awww! I must admit, after it finished playing, I screamed out loud (a shriek, actually). It really is like another world going on somewhere and we're suddenly getting new glimpses of it. I'm sure I would have liked it fine with a different director and all... but having the same look & feel and familiar characters is INCREDIBLE. Well worth the wait, just for the trailer!

Hahaha You're so right! There were a few that looked like short rangers to me because of it. And I know now I'm going to have a tough time seeing Richard Armitage as Thorin, not Richard Armitage or Sir Guy of Gisborne. A longer beard would have helped in his case. Very TOS Klingon looking indeed!

Date: 2011-12-23 04:03 am (UTC)Also yay for your package. It's always nice to get one. Which reminds me that since I'm checking in I would like to send you a package so I need to email you and get you info if you don't mind.
And then also don't worry about my fic either because I know you said it would be hard and I don't mind if it doesn't happen or is late or whatever happens.
