Fangirling
Feb. 3rd, 2012 10:47 pmI went to see Breaking Dawn tonight with my Harry Potter meetup group and the cheep movie meetup group. I read the books and some of the reviews, so I was prepared for a horrible movie. I was NOT prepared for how much I would be both horrified and laughing as quietly as possible at the same exact time. I had tears streaming down my face. That movie certainly challenged my will! Whoa. I never thought a movie where so little happens could be so... so like that.
Afterward, we were standing outside talking about it and my group was starting to disperse and who should walk up but Obi-Mom, a lovely woman I sat next to for 3 days straight at Brickfair this past July! (Yes, she's called Obi-Mom. I'm kind of jealous). Turns out she just became a Nerdfighter as well and has made her way through two John Green books and just started Alaska. It's funny, because I was just thinking of her the other day (she uses the term DLF, just like in Narnia, and I used it in reference to my friend's daughter and thought of her). Anyhoo, she missed the Tour de Nerdfighting by one week and is kicking herself for it (I didn't mention that it had been sold out for weeks before anyway). But it was great bumping into her again (she lives practically across the street from me, it's funny we don't run into each other more often at the grocery store or something).
Oh! Also I got an Eeyore package from a private swap-bot swap I set up. OMG it was like Eeyore heaven! I was tearing up! Eeyore after Eeyore after Eeyore. It was like my birthday had come early!
Also, I finally got a chance to read a brand new Neville/Charlie fic I started reading on Monday and only got a scene into. OMG so good! *drools* I love those boys so much: http://charlieficathon.livejournal.com/42579.html
New Hunger Games trailer! Saw it at work yesterday, told two coworkers. Squeed a little with both of them yesterday and today (it's been a busy week for us all. It's sad when you send someone a trailer and then say, I have a 2.5 hour conference call. I'll fangirl with you tomorrow *sigh*).
Also... do y'all know that embarrassing moment when you open your package from ThickGeek.com and realize you really DID just buy a sonic screwdriver flashlight keychain, a Firefly sticker for your car, and that Marauder's Map you've told yourself for years you shouldn't buy... just to get a free Stargate SG-1 coaster set? Yeah. I had that moment this week. I am SUCH a hopeless fangirl.
Tomorrow is library volunteering followed by a proper tea at the British Pantry with my Harry Potter group (we always do tea around Valentine's Day). I have to figure out what to wear. Ugh. I don't do dress up very well. Then it's off to the craft store for some supplies for Doctor Who and Supernatural swaps I signed up for.
Like I said, it's been a hell of a week at work (board reports due today and lots of pre-conference work). Our conference sold out this year--we're going to have about 10,000 attendees. And Margaret Atwood. It's going to be a chaotic mess of literary awesome. And I'll get to do it without working myself to death because on-site registration will not be the madhouse it usually is. But I've had lots of fandom awesomeness to make me smile. Or cry/laugh my arse off in "horror."
PS- Yes, I did watch Groundhog Day last night after work. I love that movie.
