I was going through some of my old school notes and came across this on the back page of one of my notebooks:

She heard a small click and a shuffle, then a light sniffle and she knew at once he was there. He settled into the seat beside her with a soft “Good evedidg, Badeboiselle.” He went for his handkerchief only to find that he’s somehow managed to drop it in the passageways. Thinking quickly, he used the cuff of his sleeve.

That's pretty close to the finished version that showed up in the middle of "Insight"
