First two rules of Slash Club

So one of my RL friends has an online friend who says that the first rule of slash club is that we don't, er, talk about the personal effects of slash club. I fucking love feedback, don't get me wrong, please leave it all over my fics. Nom nom yummy feedback! And no one here has ever been guilty of TMI in their feedback. But apparently someone was wildly TMI in feedback for this friend of a friend. Hence the first rule.

I'm going to throw out a second rule right now that's been in existence for a while. The second rule of slash club is that we don't talk about slash club with the actors we slash. They don't need to be embarrassed by our uber perviness. They just don't. I love that most actors have a sense of humor about these things (gods, they'd have to, given half the stuff that's on the internet), but it's still kind of embarrassing. LOL Unless they bring it up themselves. Then I have no problem with it *G*

That being said, Jared Padalecki handled himself so well in the Nerd HQ Comic Con Q&A thingy I just sort of watched, when streaming and my computer cooperated. Okay, yeah, it kind of makes me want to go buy some more JoePhillips art, don't get me wrong (his Sam/Dean is HOT). And Jared taking one look at it and commenting on the fact that he'd be wearing a belt and his nipples need to be straighter. LOL I love that man. Ten points to him. Also, HIPPOPOTHOMAS is totally my favorite word now. That is all.

I heard about that fanart thing, but that was the only period in which my livestream cut out so I didn't see it.

It's far from the first time anyone on SPN has been asked about slash, but even so, way to cross boundaries there. AWKWARD.

Do you know what it is? It's like going up to a woman and saying "you are so hot and I'm objectifying you and picturing you naked and doing kinky things. What do you think of that?" Sure people think naughty thoughts but unless people are porn stars or strippers or making money on looks alone, no one wants to hear that they're being objectified superficially like that. Okay, so actors are pretty. We like them because they're pretty. But that's not the ONLY reason we like them.

It actually wasn't such a bad moment (compared to a few I've seen with fans/actors) and obviously SPN are wise to it. But Jared handled it elegantly and hilariously this time around. I just feel like that chica needed to get the memo ;-)

Totally agree.

Plus, I think a large part of why Sam and Dean have been so much less touchy/feely and have had fewer close brotherly concern moments in the last few years is that now J2 are aware of slash, and the wild theories about their personal lives, and are anxious to avoid encouraging it. So the show keeps teasing Dean/Cas but stays waaaaaaay away from encouraging Sam/Dean.

Yeah. When I went to Comic Con in 2010 I went to the Castle panel and somebody asked a question about Esposito/Ryan slash and the actors kinda laughed about it and talked about playing with the concept which was really funny. I felt kinda awkward though, especially sitting next to my friend who knew nothing about the show. But then we went to the Glee panel and she was happy and I had no idea what was going on.
