tarotgal: (Star Trek- computer probs)

Blah. I am broke.

My main desktop computer died last week, which is why I've barely made it online. I bought a new computer today, finally making the jump from desktop to laptop. I'm slowly managing to install programs onto it and transfer files. I can't access some files and I can't get some software to install--it seems like I'm going to need to buy the new Adobe Creative Suite because Photoshop CS3 that I have does NOT want to cooperate on this new machine. And that's $370. Once I make that purchase, this whole thing will have cost me $2000 that I DO NOT HAVE. Bah. Not happy.

It's going to take a long time to get this thing to the point where my old machine was, minus all the startup errors, viruses, and driver issues that I've been having with it. Wish me luck.

I was sick for a while as well, with this spooky weird stomach thing that I still don't understand. I thought it might just be food poisoning, but then my mother had it, so I just don't know. And today I've been SUPER WEIRD. I've been exhausted and just falling asleep (despite getting 10 hours last night). Killer headache that's finally starting to go away. And I've been super dizzy. Don't know what's wrong.

And all of that is making it REALLY HARD to keep up with NaNoWriMo this year. I'm seriously behind for the first time ever, which is super worrying. *sigh*

Also, I watched District 9 and wish I hadn't. I respect the art form/cinematography... but I'm still having weird flashes to disturbing images and it's freaking me the hell out. This so rarely happens to me with movies, but this one really, really didn't sit well with me.

On a happy note, I just bought tribble slippers with a ThinkGeek gift certificate I got for my birthday from a friend (thank you, sweetie!!!!!!!!!!) and wore them on Thursday at work. Thursdays where I work are now "Slipper Thursdays" and I of course changed my iChat avatar to a tribble to match. They're the perfect level of geeky, and I had fun turning on the sound to amuse my coworkers. Plus, they're warm! It's hard to walk in them, but I'm sure once they're broken in, I'll be fine :-) Until then, no more walking up and down the stairs carrying 30lb battery backup units.
