My Christmas

I hope everyone who celebrates Christmas had an excellent one. I celebrated with my family in the morning/early afternoon then headed over to my new house to open presents from friends. I enjoyed the time alone, celebrating my very first Christmas in my new place, before heading back for dinner. I got lots of things I really wanted for my place--a digital scale, a coat rack, a mitten/hat drying stand, some new towels, a fruit bowl with banana holder, a frying pan, a digital camera, NCIS Season 9 (LOL you didn't think I was completely off the fangirling, did you?). And thanks to my fandom friends, I've got a TARDIS hat, Marauder's map & wand necklace, an SPN necklace and matching keychain, a Joss Whedon book, and some new Eeyore PJs. We watched Hot Rod during dinner (my sister got it for Christmas on DVD) which you wouldn't think was a very Christmas-y movie, but Scrooge did pop up at the end LOL. And we all laughed a lot; as a fan of 80s music, I enjoyed the soundtrack, even though the inspirational scene in the middle made me think of Merlin & Arthur for a while.

Oh! I like your tree. Are your lights snowflake shaped? I can see a Pooh Bear ornament and Jayne's cunning hat. And a Very Supernatural Christmas on TV (which I meant to watch this Christmas among other Christmas shows and movies but never got around to doing).

I also really like your black cabinet. I really need to get something like that but I have no idea where I would have room for it.

Ikea, baby. Took me DAYS to put those cabinets together by myself. I bought 3 of them and a matching open bookshelf for my DVDs. I have a lot of things that are special to me--Easter egg collection, Eeyore collection, lots of fandomy stuff, a few dolls my Grandmother left me, and some Ireland/Scotland stuff--and I decided that if I were going to have these things, I had better display them to show I loved them or there was no point in having them at all (i.e. taking a leaf out of those home decoration shows for people with WAY too much stuff). Anyway, yeah, I love 'em. There's still a lot I have to fill them with, but they were a good decision and make my living room feel cozy and fandomy.

Yes, the lights are snowflakes. I went to the store to buy a new string of colored lights and fell in love. I already had the snowflake tree topper and my favorite color is blue so blue and white snowflakes were, like, the most perfect find. I bought two boxes, put them on, and then had to go back to the store for a third box. LOL Totally worth it, though.

Yeah, I have a lot of fandomy ornaments. There's a black & white Supernatural ornament with the boys' faces (made for me in a swap this year) to the far right but below Jayne's hat (how's it sit? Pretty cunning, don't you think?). And there's a Star Wars ornament above Pooh Bear (red bulb with Obi-Wan vs Ani on one side and older Obi-Wan vs Vader on the other). But I've also got Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Star Trek, Golden Compass, Washington Capitals, and probably something else I can't remember. I got a Doctor Who ornament in a swap but it didn't make it to my tree in time for the photo.
