Recent Me Things
Jan. 7th, 2013 10:16 pmRecent me things:
*I finally caught up on all my book reviews and wrote a recap of my 2012 reading life. I only read 66 books. I blame The Stand for being so long and me for reading so slowly. http://katekintailbc.livejournal.com/
*Every time I read "LBD" instead of Lizzie Bennet Diaries (which is, I think, what the Nerdfighters are talking about) I seriously think it's Lesbian Bed Death. This has happened, like 10 times this week. I am warped.
*I spent all evening yesterday with two cameras and their memory cards, finally editing, resizing, uploading, titling, describing, and tagging all my craft/swap photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/katekintail/sets/72157627776289348/
*I finished the Caprica tv series yesterday. How freakin mean was that trailer for season 2 at the end and there was no season 2? Very mean. But I liked it. Zoe was adorable. My favorite parts were all the little mentions of phrases/words that were used on BSG like toaster and skin job. heehee
*I started watching Army Wives again last night after finishing Caprica. I read through two seasons of descriptions and COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHERE I LEFT OFF. So I'm starting in the middle of season 4. I'm pretty sure I finished season 4 and maybe season 5 but I have no memory of events in it, so I'm rewatching and enjoying them as if it were the first time around
*I finished my July-December 2012 personal diary/artifacts journal on Saturday and started my January-June 2013 one. Am very pleased with that accomplishment. I also posted in my travel journal, updated a website, and blogged about some 101 Things progress
*I started reading the second Kyle's B&B book. Last night I made it to the first strip I'd ever read. So now I've read everything! But I'm still going to finish the book and buy the third one whenever it comes out LOL It was so great to finally meet Breyer for the first time (he and Kyle had just started dating when I tuned in about 3 strips later). The gap between book 1's ending and where I started following the comic has finally been filled!
*I was too sleepy after work to take my Christmas tree down today. So it's still up. No one's complaining. I spent the time unpacking food in my kitchen and watching more Saved by the Bell: the College Years.
*I made a recent discovery of how good mushrooms and veggie protein strips taste together in stirfry with just a tiny bit of extra virgin olive oil. I might try them together exclusively next time and skip the other veggies in the mix I bought. Also, my new guilty pleasure food is plain white rice. YUM. I'm supposed to be eating brown because it's healthier, but every so often I just don't feel like waiting for it to cook (the organic white rice takes, like 5-8 minutes in the rice cooker and brown rice takes, like, 40. GAH). Also, I need to buy stock in the Lundberg company. And honeycrisp apples. I am addicted to those things. I'm eating so many more organic foods and am mostly vegan now. As long as I give it the occasional low sodium Triscuit when I've had too much fruit, my tummy has been fine with it and I'm up to 24 pounds lost. And it's been ages since I've needed to microwave a meal.

Date: 2013-01-08 01:24 pm (UTC)But, yeah, I don't blame you. My mother has found some brown rice in steam packs that is fast to cook in the microwave, but it's not organic and... I don't know... I don't use the microwave much these days, apart from heating water for an occasional tea.

Date: 2013-01-08 05:04 pm (UTC)There are a low of raw fruits, because I don't liked cooked fruits. And then, yeah, a lot of raw veggies, but probably just as many cooked veggies. Some days no raw veggies at all because I'll have fake tuna for lunch and a stirfry on rice for dinner. Just depends what I have in my fridge that needs to get eaten before it goes bad. The HARDEST part about all of this was figuring out how much I can buy and eat before it goes bad. So I know how many salads I get to a bag of salad from the store and, thus, how many salads I must eat before the date on the bag. Likewise, how many servings in a pack of stir fry veggies (usually 3-4 depending how big and what store it's from). The eating different and cooking have not been the hardest parts to learn; the hardest parts have been getting a sense of the food and coordinating/keeping track mentally so I don't end up buying a lot that I will end up throwing out. That's not to say I haven't messed up a bunch on that front, because I have thrown away quite a bit of expired salad or carrots, but it's a learning process and I'm MUCH better at figuring it all out than I used to. Once in a while I have to toss some rice that's been in the fridge for a week that I forgot about, but I've nearly got it down now. I'm like a dog; I like routine.
