tarotgal: (Legolas-bread)

I'm basically spending this whole weekend making LEGO things for Brickfair. I'm not going to have much time to do it next week and last weekend I was supposed to have worked on them and I didn't even touch them! So I've been in panic mode all week. At one point, I was up at 2am, frantically searching for my bag of owls. I was telling my coworker this yesterday--that I was up at 2am freaking out and searching frantically for my bag of owls. I couldn't sleep until I found my bag of owls. As if that were a problem everyone has at some point--misplacing the bag in which you've put all of your LEGO owls. I then said #firstworldproblems. My coworker was laughing with me and said "Um, no, that's more like #halfworldproblems." Okay, so in the grand scheme of things, me finding my LEGO owls wasn't world-changing. But it made me feel a lot better when I found them. Only took me about half an hour of searching.

Anyway, in a panic, I finally started work on one of my MOCs today. I actually started doing everything I could think of to NOT do work on it. I even started cleaning part of my house I've been unable to clean since January. And while I was proud of myself for doing that, I did make myself stop, go upstairs, and start work. And once I did, I had a really fun time. It was just the STARTING that was hard. Also, I plugged in my work laptop and the harddrive somehow got corrupt and it wouldn't boot. I ended up having to erase the whole computer and reinstall the operating system. It works fine now (meaning I can watch/listen to Netflix as I put together LEGO things) but it gave me a HUGE scare. I thought I'd done something terrible to it and I was going to owe work a lot of money. But it's fine. I don't know how it got corrupted, but I didn't really lose anything. I lost a few video projects and some notes, I think. But nothing I thought twice about when I erased the hard drive and started over with it. The laptop was really just a backup of what's on my computer at work.

I managed to completely finish one whole MOC and I'm about halfway done with my second. I wanted to make four altogether, but I'm realizing now that I don't have the bricks I need to do one of them. That's a shame, but I can cope. If I end up having just two, that'll be okay with me. And I have the whole day tomorrow to work on the second one, which is half done. So I'm in a really good place and the panic is gone.

I ended up watch the Hatfields & McCoys mini-series on Netflix. I watched it when it originally aired on TV and really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it so much that as soon as the episode was over, I'd watch it over again when it repeated immediately afterward. And a few days later when there was a marathon of all three episodes, I watched the whole thing over again. I think I've seen it probably 6 or 7 times now. It's not the sort of setting, time period, or culture that usally strikes my fancy. But I'm weirdly addicted to it. I kept seeing it pop up on Netflix and even though I meant to watch something else today, I started episode 1 and then, suddenly, I couldn't stop watching. And as it's something I've seen before, it was easy to build on the floor and not really watch it. Yes, I know I have a building table, but I kind of like sprawling on the floor. My Legolas LEGO Loft is a mess of containers right now. LOL

I'd like to finish watching Once Upon a Time tomorrow on Netflix (season 1, which I've seen before). I'm re-watching it because I'm in a Once Upon a Time craft swap this month and I needed a little inspiration. I also managed to write a quick short story for a swap today (which I did during dinner. So I didn't get food all over the LEGO bricks, which would have been bad. Then I went right back to building LEGO stuff like a good little girl).

It's time for bed! More LEGO in the morning! And, probably, I won't watch the Hatfields & McCoys mini-series again. Though every time I watch it, I decide I'll die if I don't buy the soundtrack. And then I conveniently forget to buy it afterward.

On that recommendation, I've decided to watch Hatfields & McCoys today.

Yeah, the music is kind of "sad bluegrass." I like it too.

The acting is good, but I confess I've noticed that Kevin Costner's hillbilly accent is rather similar to the way he spoke in Robin Hood. ;)

From what I read, the series tried to be as true to history as possible. Either way, it looks like a lot of this feud was fueled by mixing idiots with guns and alcohol. Which is kind of sad.

And it bothers me that feud and fuel are pronounced the same. I demand consistency in my vowel placement, durn it! :)
