5. An After

“Hey, hey. Don’t.” Dean pushes away Sam’s hand in order to press a balled-up tissue to Sam’s nose and wipe soundly.

Sam smirks as Dean leans over the side of the bed and drops the tissue into the trashcan. “You dod’t have to do that every tibe I sdiff.”

“Don’t have to,” Dean echoes, pulling another tissue out of the box, ready for the next time.

“But you wadt to.”

“Oh fuck yeah.”

Sam moves to close the book he’s been reading in bed, but Dean stops him. Sam raises his eyebrows. “But I—”

“No. Not tonight. Just keep reading. And I’ll keep…”

“Takig good care of be?”

Dean is nearly breathless as he nods. “Exactly.”

Sam’s breath hitches and Dean holds the tissue up. It’s a strange sensation to let Dean do this, going against his instincts. He’s used to Dean fussing over him, sure. And he’s used to Dean sharing his bed by now, moving in close. But it’s different to be ordered to not rub your own nose when you feel like you’re about to sneeze. Sam closes his eyes, trying to relax, but his nostrils flare. He finds himself snapping forward, nose planting squarely in the tissue in Dean’s hand. “h’huhchuhhh!”

He needs to blow his nose, at least clear it a little. He shifts anxiously, wanting to bring his hand up. But then Dean kisses him. It’s not one of Dean’s normal strong, direct kisses. It’s soft. It’s comforting. It’s right beneath Sam’s ear. Sam tilts his head, giving Dean’s lips more purchase.

But Dean refolds the tissue around Sam’s nose and moves his mouth up to Sam’s ear. “Blow.”

Sam smiles. He’d like to blow his nose, but it’s far too tickly just now. “Ihhh-I-huhh-HIHTchhhhhh!”

I love how Dean turns down the sex to just enjoy the care taking.

I also agree with Sam that it would take some getting used to this aspect of care taking, but in a way, it's a gift to Dean, to relax and let him take over.

It's sort of like the BDSM equivalent in sneezefics. I love this observation: in a way, it's a gift to Dean because, yeah, that's it exactly. You are brilliant :-)

When it's THAT good, that perfect already, who needs sex? It's bliss just being there and easing Sam into a place where Sam is completely trusting and comfortable knowing Dean's going to be there to catch his sneezes every time... and that Dean likes being able to do that for Sam more than anything else, even sex.
