Merry Christmas!
Dec. 25th, 2013 01:17 amMerry Christmas, everyone! If you celebrate it, I hope you have a very happy Christmas. If you don't celebrate it, have a plain old happy day! :-)
I'll be posting the first of the gift fics today. They were going well for a while but have been slowing down. I'm starting to panic slightly about them... but no use in worrying until I'm sure there's something to worry about. Just... sorry if yours is late. Or sucks. Or both? Ugh. But the first one is definitely going up today. I PROMISE!
I've got to get up early and head to my parents' house for Christmas with my family. It'll be the first time since, like, 1992 that we've had more than just the four of us at Christmas. I don't like change, but I'm actually quite happy my sister's boyfriend/fiance will be spending Christmas day with us. I wish I'd known so I could have bought him something... but I handmade the two of them a gift, so at least that's something. I've got some presents under my tree from friends, so I'll have a nice, private Christmas later by myself, probably curled up in a brand new blanket I just took out of the package and washed yesterday and am kind of in love with. I have a serious blanket obsession. Like how my friend, Rach, has a closet just for her cosplay costumes? My linen closet is, like, 80% blankets. LOL But this one's close to MacLeod tartan. And it's soft. And these past few days I've REALLY needed the extra comfort.
I've had a few rough days... not the best start to my winter vacation, to be sure. Saturday was pretty much just me lying on the couch in pain and getting up just to take more Tylenol. And just when my stomach started feeling better and I'd worked myself up to get things done, the power went out during the day today as I was trying to make soup for lunch. UGH. I ended up waiting until I was really hungry then going to my parents' place with the bowl of cold soup. It might have been a message, because I ate the soup (and then did a little bit of work for work) and checked back home (the power had been on for 7 minutes! TIMING WIN!) then realized that soup was a dreadful mistake. Stupid friggin digestive system! *sigh* I've got a colonoscopy scheduled for Jan 10. Happy new year! heehee
I managed to go out Monday to mail a package (late Christmas gift; I feel bad about that) and get groceries. I watched Love Actually on Sunday and only made it one minute and 40-something seconds before bursting into tears; usually I last at least until minute 10, with the wedding or the funeral that follows. I watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation today (well, I saw half of it, then the power went out, and I finished it off tonight). Then I followed it up with Funny Farm, because of the Christmas scene at the end. Then I watched Latter Days, forgetting that it's a Thanksgiving scene at the end not Christmas... and forgetting that it always makes me cry buckets. Now I'm watching The Holiday. Damn it, but why had I forgotten that this is, like, the best movie ever? :-) I plan on watching Serendipity later... which should exhaust my supply of Christmas movies I own, not counting the Doctor Who specials, of course.
Okay. I'm off to bed. By way of the dishes. And the laundry. And the electric candles in my windows and my wreath I forgot to switch off an hour ago. I really should have bought timers for them. LOL
Happy Christmas, all!

Date: 2013-12-25 08:04 am (UTC)I totally am with you on the blanket thing. I love buying blankets and pillows and such (stuffed animals sometimes as well) because they are soft and warm and comforting. I probably have too many but they are useful and there are worse things to spend money on.
Anyway, have a nice Christmas!
Oh! I have loved seeing your collection of ornaments for the past couple weeks. Thanks for sharing.
