tarotgal: (Slash is sexy)
[personal profile] tarotgal
You can finish that sentence any number of ways. I prefer "a sexy beast" but to each his own.

I have a picture of Marcus & Oliver mid-snog on my Pinterest Slash pairings board, and yesterday I got the following comment from the Queen of Pinterest who, apparently, loves Jesus so much she needs to put it in her user icon, "Oliver Wood is not a homosexual."

Granted, she might have stumbled upon the photo and not realized it was on a slash pairings board. Additionally, that was the only comment she made, just that one statement, so nothing in fact to say that it would be a bad thing if he or anyone else were. And, too, I'm impressed she knows who the character is. But who's to say he isn't a homosexual? Unlike many of the characters in the books, Oliver is never shown one way or the other (or both or neither, if he wants to swing those ways). Absolutely, you can make a case in canon that Snape is not a homosexual. Or Remus. Or Harry. Or even Draco (despite his intense obsession with Harry for seven years, he does end up married to Ms. Greengrass, after all). But Oliver Wood? How could she know? Or how could I, for that matter?

That's one of the things I love about secondary or even tertiary characters. With many of them, you can be 100% canon-complient and still slash the heck out of them if you want (and, yes, in the case of Oliver Wood, I do want).

At least the comment made me laugh when I read it. Though I deleted it in about as much time as it took for me to roll my eyes.
